About this deal

On 6ES, V-Power or Ultimate + Valvemaster, I get occasional cold-start fouling on my PI. On 7ES it was even worse.

Tilaus voidaan noutaa halutusta Puuilo-myymälästä, mikäli tuotetta on kyseisen myymälän varastossa. where as NGK are generally fit and forget, I don't often use bosch plugs but have nothing against them, So, the plan is to work on a few small things on Saturday and I wanted to throw new spark plugs in while I was there and take it for a spin. I know BP5ES and BP6ES are the general recommendations for 2002 2.0 liter engines and I always use NGK, but I'm not sure which heat range I should go with. Here's what I know about the engine:

The [ dated ] information I have is that the 7s correlated to Champion N9Y and the 6s correlated to Champion N12Y, specified for TR5/6 P.I. and TR250/6 carb respectively, by TRIUMPH. So my experience amounts to " going by the book ". I'm not versed on " Stage XYZ " heads, but one of my BP7ES equipped engines with CP cam has 9.5:1 c/r and the other has 10.7:1 with high lift ( 0.504" ) / 282 degree duration cam. Heads are both Racetorations produce ( caveat emptor! ). This listing is for one plug so if you need more then simply add that number of items to your basket. I think I can safely say that it may have plugs in it from 1999, which is probably good because they are what the long-term owner always ran in it (1970-2000), and the car has only had 4,000 miles put on it since 2004.

I recall that one-time prolific poster on this forum, 'bmcecosse', told a tale of a mate's car that wouldn't go.........they tried a few things and in the end Roy substituted the NKG plugs for Champion and the car fired up first time. He then threw the NKG plugs into a neighbouring field! It does this thousands of times each minute. Over time spark plugs start to break down, resulting in a poor spark. A healthy engine needs good clean spark plugs. however Denso have given excellent results over the years, not just in std A series engines but in everything from tuned Minors to turbo charged modern performance engines, their platinum plugs are superb, yes they are expensive but will last around 60,000 miles with no noticeable loss of performance. Their iridium plugs are great for turbo cars where there will be very high compression under boost as they generally give a very strong spark. In my day job I design special purpose blast machines, one of our customers in the 90's was Champion. My biggest failure with a NGK plug was when the earth terminal fell off and was jammed into the top of the piston on my previous modern. That meant me taking the head off which had to have a light skim. Not a job I want to do again as half the car and half the engine had to be stripped to gain access. In 1976 when I got my 1st '250 all of the parts store catalogs showed N9Y for all TR6 and TR250. After repeatedly fouling these I consulted the owner's manual which called for UN12Y. Fitting these or its equivalent ( Autolite 55 ) ended the problem for good. NGK has been developing spark plug technology since the 1930s and manufacture plugs for every type of automotive engine, as well as for motorcycles, marine, horticultural, plant and many other applications. But I won't complain after 9 years of being off the road and "under construction", she finally is drivable
