About this deal

I prefer a more minimalism approach to things in the first place, not just decluttering and making pretty (and unrealistic and unlivable, truly). It pulled me in originally because I do agree with tackling a project by taking everything out of a space and putting it back together in an organized way. The Home Edit is a very beautiful book but is highly unrealistic and caters only to a specific audience (upper-middle-class to upper-class women with a large home budget and an oversized house). The book will reiterate over and over again that you should do these steps but gives very little detail on how to do them. Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin believe that every single space has the potential to function and look beautiful at the same time–even the dreaded pantry or bedroom closet.

I tell myself I'm keeping that 3-in-1 Ninja cooker because I might want to cook a large chicken or small turkey using the slow cooker function. The team streamlines spaces for celeb entrepreneur Lauren Conrad, country star Kelsea Ballerini, and a family of four living in a two-bedroom condo. If not, use what you have already and slowly, section by section, get the plastic bins, first for the things that keep ending up all over the house like kids' toys, pens and pencils, or whatever you keep finding out of place in your house. The stars of Hello Sunshine's Mastering the Mess and the Netflix series Get Organized with The Home Edit, Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin founded The Home Edit with the goal of merging conventional organization and interior design.

With The Home Edit Life, you’ll soon be corralling phone cords, archiving old photos, arranging your phone apps by color, and packing your suitcase like a pro.

The authors also spends a good 1/3 of the book just chatting about themselves, their famous clients, and how much they each love organizing. I think she lost me when talking about chandeliers in your closet and putting stuffed animals away by color. Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin believe that every single space has the potential to function and look beautiful at the same time--even the dreaded pantry or bedroom closet. They’re funny, down to earth, and realize we don’t all live in the sprawling estates of some of their high-end clients.Born and raised in Los Angeles, Clea has always loved to organize and has a keen eye for design which led her to NYC where she studied at Parsons School of Design.

The Home Edit has grown a loyal celebrity and social media following thanks to a streamlined philosophy that's often delivered with some hilarious punch lines.
