About this deal

The CitiZ is a fairly streamlined espresso maker, so it doesn’t overflow with extra features. Of course, that also means it’s easy to use. Good news for your early-morning brain!

All standard Nespresso machines use the 19 bar extraction system, and the Pixie and CitiZ are no different. Now that we’ve got the similarities out of the way, let’s see the differences between the Citiz and the Pixie. Water tank Both the Nespresso Citiz and the Nespresso Pixie are part of the OriginalLine series of brewers. Nespresso makes two brewing systems: OriginalLine, which is the classic Nespresso, and VertuoLine, which is a new system designed to make bigger beverages. If you want some color customization or a retro look and don’t mind paying a little more for a machine that’s a little more user-friendly, the CitiZ is probably best for you. If you want a more premium-looking machine that is less expensive and you don’t mind a smaller water reservoir and spent capsule tank, the Pixie will suit you best and save you some money. If you’re really particular about the design and looks of your home, this could be an important deciding factor for you! Both the Citiz and Pixie can brew espresso and lungo shots. You can also program the machines to brew a specific volume of espresso and lungo by pressing and holding the button down. If you press and hold the button, the machine will continue to push water through the capsule until you let the button go. The Citiz and Pixie are both standalone brewers, which means there is no milk frother built in. Depending on where you choose to buy from, you may be able to get an Aeroccino milk frother with the coffee machine as part of a bundle deal. Nespresso Citiz vs Pixie: differences

The Pixie has a power cord that’s just over 2.5 feet long, which is a foot shorter than that of the CitiZ. The cord length isn’t a significant issue and seems plenty long, but if outlets are few and far between in your kitchen, you may want to decide against the Pixie. My model doesn’t have milk frothing, but you can add an Aeroccino at any point, or spend a bit more on the CitiZ&Milk, which has an Aeroccino built-in – although it does mean the overall footprint of the coffee machine is bigger and hence it will take up a bit more space. How important is water tank size? This is something that you must decide for yourself. One espresso shot pulled by a Nespresso machine has a volume of around 1.5 ounces. Uses all varieties of Nespresso Grands Crus capsules. Innovative Nespresso capsules contain the perfect amount of freshly roasted and ground coffee. Before we compare the differences between the Nespresso Pixie and the Nespresso Citiz, it’s worth looking at how they both are similar. Nespresso Citiz and Pixie similarities Brewing system The Pixie is only able to take a larger mug by flipping up the hinged drip tray. Despite the tray being hinged for this purpose, any drips on the outside of the cup will end up on your kitchen surface; with the CitiZ, the drip tray is always available. Coffee quality It will also make a note of how much volume you extracted and will extract the same amount from a single touch of the button going forward.

It does have a programmable auto-off feature. The machine comes programmed to turn off after nine minutes, but you can change it to 30 if you prefer. It also has a used capsule container that can hold nine to 11 capsules. This model won’t automatically eject capsules after brewing, so you’ll need to raise and lower the lever after each cup. Heating up in just 25 seconds, the Nespresso Citiz uses Nespresso capsules, which contain the perfect amount of freshly roasted and ground coffee for a true barista experience at home. Both the Citiz and the Pixie have an adjustable drip tray that you can move up and down to accommodate various sizes of cups. Don’t forget to periodically clean out the drip tray! For this last point in our comparison of Nespresso machines, it’s purely an aesthetics discussion rather than anything to do with functionality.

Very Pay gives you a choice of ways to pay

The CitiZ has a very simple two-button interface. These one-touch buttons can be programmed to your preferred volumes. The water flow will stop automatically after 1.35 ounces (espresso) or 3.7 ounces (lungo), but you can pause the brew or add more after it finishes by pushing the one-touch buttons again. Even better, you can teach your CitiZ your preferred volume by holding the buttons down. Coffee Quality

When you’re comparing the CitiZ vs Pixie, there are a few things to think about. The Pixie has a smaller water reservoir than the CitiZ, which means it will need to be refilled more often. The Pixie’s spent capsule tank is also just a touch smaller, so that will have to be emptied more often as well. Overall, the Pixie is a bit less convenient in terms of clean up.

The Citiz is sometimes called the Nespresso Classic, too, so bear that in mind when you’re looking around. The costs for delivery, installation services and monthly insurance products cannot be placed on BNPL.
