About this deal

A lot of my issues with Who Let The God's Out came from pacing, plot and characters, which I feel Vi Spy did so much better at. At the very end, Vi's mum instead decides to correct the one person who has always called her Susan (her new fiancé), and tell everyone that her name is really Easter. The ColorMap is used to apply a gradient on the colorbar. orientation {‘left’, ‘right’, ‘top’, ‘bottom’}

She’s been sheltered her whole life, thanks to her over-protective mum, but now she has a chance to prove that she can look after herself. She is desperate to become a spy, and her mum’s reluctance just makes her even more determined. I love the relationship that Vi has with her Nan and the relationship that grows between her and the Sprouts. Parameters : center array I hope that VI has the same balance of humour and heart that readers seem to have enjoyed with the Gods. Like WLTGO, it’s a fantasy story – a child caught between a divorcing supervillain and super spy – but it’s rooted in reality, as millions of children experience the heartbreak of their parents breaking up. But I hope it’s got its own vibe too – we’re not in classical mythology now, we’re in the super cool world of super cool spies… Buy the book here! Er… no…! There’s a bit of me in lots of my characters (Virgo always being right comes straight from me!) but Vi and I have a lot in common. I loved spy stories as a kid and thought it would be fun to be one – but I’m just too clumsy and loud to stand a chance! Vi gets her less good points from me – stubborn, grumpy and a bit naughty – I wish I were as brave as her. Although the humour and inventiveness alone make this worth a read, the thrills are absolutely genuine – especially when the tension is ratcheted up to 11 for the final showdown. What I think makes your writing stand out is the well-placed humour – it’s a story full of fun, puns and wit! How difficult is it to write the funny side of things and how do you go about coming up with all these hilarious acronyms, jokes and puns? I can deal with a fart joke every now and again. A smelly, crude, or silly joke. It's not my humour, but I know kids love it. I get it. But this was a David Walliams level of crude humour which I just have never understood a need for. No thank you. It just feels lazy. Valentine Day is a great character – determined, brave, curious and just a bit stubborn! Is she based on anyone you know?
