About this deal
Once aligned by using three bright objects the telescope can help you find and track thousands of objects. Go behind the scenes with Celestron’s product development team and learn more about our award-winning and patented innovations. If it’s planets you’re after, get a decent high-magnification eyepiece too, something in the 10mm or lower range. Comet Neowise was visible to the naked eye once dark-adapted, and its tail spanned a large swathe of sky.
First, your eye can’t take 15 second exposures, so even bright objects like the Hercules Cluster look like milky, faint cotton balls and colorful objects like the Orion Nebula look like milky, faint wedges. An altitude-azimuth mount can move in the left-right and up-down directions, but can’t rotate in the z-axis. You get an 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope with excellent optics and a computerized mount that can point to objects in the night sky for you. Catadioptrics, which are also known as compound telescopes, combine mirrors and lenses to provide a long focal length in a relatively short body. That’s exactly what I did in this picture, using a piggyback mount with my Canon T5i DSLR with a 200 mm lens.I found right ascension, declination, altitude and azimuth thoroughly confusing, but the arm exercise helped me understand it.
While it may take as much as an hour to get going when you first put all the pieces together, many owners report taking as little as fifteen minutes once you get used to it.Use the included NexStar+ hand control to locate over 40,000 celestial objects, or take a Sky Tour and let your telescope show you the best objects currently visible. BIAS: Bias photos are taken with the telescope’s lens cap on at the same ISO as the Lights but with the fastest exposure your camera has. Sturdy construction from high-quality components give NexStar SE the pointing and tracking accuracy needed to observe and follow your favorite targets with pushbutton ease. Your camera’s sensor sensitivity is probably uneven and this will produce stripes or gradients that are noticeable when you boost low-light photographs. The NexStar 8 SE features Schmidt-Cassegrain 8" aperture optics with our premium StarBright XLT coatings and a powerful 2,032mm focal length and f/10 focal ratio.
Generally, I’ve been successful imaging things in the Messier catalog, although it depends on the color of the target (I don’t have a modded camera and targets with deep reds are harder to photograph than targets with greens). If you look at the specifications for this telescope, it highlights some pretty impressive potential for a variety of visual observations. It’s time to complete the setup by telling it where in the world you are so you can find objects to look at with ease. For planetary imaging, there’s no better choice than a NexStar 8SE paired with one of our Skyris cameras. The weather has not been friendly, from -30 C nights to consecutive weeks of precipitation and clouds. For planetary imaging, there’s no better choice than a NexStar 8SE paired with one of our NexImage cameras.
