About this deal

This book strikes a nice balance between being rich in details from Hadid's life while maintaining a focus on the philosophical/artistic underpinnings of her creations. With photos, descriptions and drawings, readers can explore the life and philosophy of the Queen of the Curve. The first book published on Zaha Hadid since her death in 2016, although book had been well into production. She is very inspiring and if you read her story it can really motivate you in becoming the best that you can be in your life.

Hadid also held chairs and guest professorships at various universities worldwide, including Columbia, Harvard, Yale and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. From her early sharply angled buildings to later more fluid architecture that made floors, ceilings, walls, and furniture part of an overall design, this essential introduction presents key examples of Hadid’s pioneering practice. Meet Emmeline Pankhurst—the leader of the Suffragettes—in this book and paper doll gift edition set. The picture book is a MUST HAVE for any biography section and celebrates achievements by a woman in history in a field mostly populated by male counterparts. Yet, during the latter years of her life, Hadid’s daring visions became a reality, bringing a new and unique architectural language to cities and structures such as the Port House in Antwerp, the Al Janoub Stadium near Doha, Qatar, and the spectacular new airport terminal in Beijing. Indeed, the Baghdad-born, London-based architect had designed some of the most exciting buildings in the world.

Meet Billie Jean King, the tennis star who has dedicated her life to breaking barriers both on and off the tennis court. Hong Kong's 15-story tall Jockey Club Innovation Tower was built to house nearly 2,000 students and staff, as well as house facilities for design studios, labs, exhibition halls, classrooms, lecture theaters, and more. This inspiring book features stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the architect’s life. The groundbreaking monograph contains Hadid's own striking drawings and paintings, as well as hundreds of sketches, plans, and models.See our Remarkables Archive for some that are no longer in print, but which we are happy to try to track down. This practice is driven by the development of rigorous interfaces between natural topographies, human-made systems and innovative technologies that have resulted in almost 1000 landmark projects across the globe.

I was delighted to learn about Zaha Hadid and after finishing the book, I had to immediately look up the museum in Cincinnati that she designed. In addition to Source Books in Architecture, his writings have appeared in Log, Dialogue, Loud Paper, and elsewhere.Prepared in collaboration with the architect's office, this comprehensive survey of over 200 projects - from the earliest experimentations to product design, from speculative follies to large-scale built works - is a testament to the depth, range and excitement of her vision. Activity books and a journal provide even more ways to make the lives of these role models accessible to children. Meet three inspirational figures from Black culture and history: Maya Angelou, Martin Luther King Jr.
