About this deal

olivettes are used for setting larger pole floats but are useful to the micro angler in the larger sizes for ledgering in rivers. This rod is rated as a Light Power spinning rod but like many ultralight power rods it is capable of throwing a 1/16 ounce lure. Outfitting for micro fishing requires creativity since the local Bass Pro and Cabelas have yet to offer specific tackle.

There doesn't seem to be much disagreement on hooks, and not all that much on baits - and lines don't even get mentioned much, but there is quite a gulf on the rods. All the rods in the range have the same handle and guide spacing configuration and come in a Cordura tube and bag.

Primarily used for mountain stream trout fishing, tenkara is one of the most popular methods of angling among fresh-water mountain anglers in Japan. Some of the lighter weight fly rods have very sensitive tips that will cause the bait to bounce around undesirably in front of the fish. The fishing reel, which is made of plastic material, is so durable, delicate and nice for you to catch a big fish.

Most micro fishing is by sight so use a longer rod that will allow you to sneak up on the fish without scaring them.

Recognizing the limitations of traditional trout fly and tanago fish hooks we embarked on a journey to innovate. The 3x5 Photo Tank holds larger fish than the Micro Photo Tank (like sunfish) and also holds several micros at once. A tippet connector is one of those things that you might not actually need but will certainly appreciate. If you use the tanago floats, you will definitely want to have some micro sized split shot to make the float cock properly. This includes items that pre-date sanctions, since we have no way to verify when they were actually removed from the restricted location.

The depth of the bait in the water is important and will determine what species of fish you will catch. I am looking to go catch some sub 3'' species with size 14 hooks and under and want a tenkara/cane pole style rod to achieve this. The rod felt powerful and confident handling trout 12 inches and less and I am confident it could handle larger fish. On the other end of the spectrum is specialty equipment imported from Japan, where catching small fish is big, and where the anglers who pursue them are as fanatical as any bass, trout or salmon fisherman. I examined the line guides to see if they were properly seated and was quite happy with the workmanship of this rod.

The most important reason you should use small hooks for micro fishing is so you can successfully release micro fish back into the water with the least amount of damage. For small sunnies in the neighborhood stream or the pond at the edge of town, there is no need to go really small, but for some of the micros, you really will do better with the tanago hooks from Japan. It comes as a shelf-stable powder, which when mixed 1:1 with water, produces a sticky paste that will stay on your hook.
