Customers all over the country rely on our fruit cakes, sponge cake bases and icings, whether decorating cakes as a hobby or a business. As so many of them tell us, most get into cake decoration as a hobby and enjoy the 'decorating' part far more than the baking - once they have found us, they can enjoy decorating even more cakes because they save all the time and effort usually spent baking the cakes themselves! Our deliciously moist rich fruit cake recipe has been in the family for several generations, and has been enjoyed by thousands of people at weddings, parties and exhibitions all over Britain. We use only the finest ingredients from around the world, and take great care in baking the consistently good cakes that your decorating skills deserve. As well as the traditional fruit cake, we now offer 10 flavours of ready to decorate sponge cakes and cupcakes, including vegan options too. We are very easy to find, close to the Nottingham ring road andthe M1, and have a free customer car park right outside the shop.
We do not currently offer any gluten free cakes. Unfortunately, new tighter rules on permissable trace levels of guten in products marketed as 'gluten free' make it almost impossible for small bakeries such as ours to produce genuinely gluten free cakes. HOWEVER we do offer a vanilla gluten free sponge cake mix for you to bake at home. Find it in the Cake Mix section! Yes, at our bakery, we offer a wide selection of cakes that are pre-baked and ready to be decorated and enjoyed. Our team of skilled bakers prepare these delicious treats daily, ensuring that you receive the freshest sponge cake bases possible. We have a wide range of flavors, including classic options like vanilla sponge, chocolate, toffee, red velvet, lemon, and even vegan cakes for those with special dietary needs. The weight can be in grams, kilograms, ounces or millilitres. You only need to enter a number in the box, not the unit of measurement. The scaler will work in the same way for any unit of measurement, and it won't matter if some ingredients are entered using imperial weights and others in metric. You just need to remember which unit you used for each ingredient, so you can use the same unit to measure out the amount given in the 'results' column. I'm afraid not! We are so busy baking our cake bases and making our icings that we no longer have time to produce decorated cakes as well. We are a small bakery with only one baking production area, and unfortunately cannot guarantee that ANY of our products are totally free from gluten, egg, milk, soya or nuts, as these are all used daily as ingredients, or appear in ingredients we use.
It only needs to know the WEIGHT of each ingredient. So simply go down your ingredient list and enter a weight for each one - you just need to remember which is ingredient 1, which is ingredient 2 and so on. Our range of cake mixes makes professional quality sponge cakes which are perfect for weddings, celebration cakes and more! You can use our cake mixes to make tiered cakes or carve novelty shaped cakes and the baked cakes have a 2 week shelflife giving you plenty of time to do the decorating!
Our toffee cake and red velvet cake are both dairy free - ie do not contain dairy as an ingredient, but MAY still contain traces of milk as we do use milk powder on the premises.

Our range of ready to decorate sponge cakes are time-saving and convenient and boast an impressive 4-5 week shelf life, giving you more time to perfect the decoration. It is usually best to use a board 3" bigger than the size of the cake, but it will depend on your chosen design. Our ready made sponge cakes have 5 weeks shelf life from baking and an amazing 10 flavours to choose from including vegan options. We usually deliver within just 1-2 working days so if you need a last minute cake in a hurry - no problem! The scaler doesn't need to know what ingredients you are using - ie , if it is butter, flour, eggs etc. Shapes with indentation, like hearts and petals, will need slightly more ribbon than the equivalent round shape. The cake decorating and sugarcraft shop is CLOSED on Sundays and all Bank Holidays (including Good Friday). We are also usually closed for some of the days between Christmas and New Year. Ring before your visit if you're not sure!
