About this deal

Has that long hair, slicked back, white t-shirts, or in his case, henleys, tight jeans and tied back hair.

Elliot was a commitment type of guy who would one day settle and have a family and I hated how Ama broke his heart because of her insecurities about marriages.

i would have liked to just know the reason for the breakup and see them working together and growing closer in the present day. I liked the banter, I liked the spicy scenes, and I even liked the wedding and event management content (this was a surprise to me, it's something I don't usually gravitate towards). He's a character who evokes genuine admiration and sympathy, deserving nothing less than the entire world. Elliot just wants to be left alone to angrily run his family’s business and I want that for him too. I'm not usually a fan of this trope, however, it made perfect sense why Ama was so reluctant to marriage and ended her relationship with Elliot.

I usually hate when the breakup reason isn't revealed until much later on, but I didn't mind it in here! I melted with how sweet and emotional he was with Ama, even though we are introduced to him as a brute who barely talks. Ama and Elliot's story unfolds from a dual POV and dual timeline, weaving their past with the moment their paths cross again. From the get go the reader is pulled into Ama's world, the character voice and description is so clear.

As a fan of Julie's Dramione fanfics, I was eager to read her first traditionally published book - and it did not disappoint! as the story followed its wake we witness the context in which that conversation happened or why that innocent comment was made in the first place. Sometimes side characters can play too big of a role in the story or they can be annoying, but Jackie and Hazel did, and were, neither. Also I’ve been posting a ton of historical romance lately (bc I’m truly in my historical romance era right now), but I wanted to break that up and finally post a contemporary review! They were so in love with each other, excited and anxious about their wedding that it was so much fun to witness Elliot and Ama building up their dream wedding right before our eyes. It follows Ama Torres, a wedding planner, as she lands the biggest wedding of her career - that of social media influencer, Hazel, and her fiancee, Jackie. Her love life is nonexistent at best; she has serious commitment issues and never lets things get too far where there will be a need for commitment. I thought Ama and Elliot had great chemistry in the flashback scenes, it was a bit harder to see in the present day ones.

It takes until about 80% in the book to catch us up to speed fully on the past, and the first half of this I was so on board for.

I wish I got to know more about her character because I didn't feel connected to her the way I felt with Elliot. The drama behind the celebrity wedding in the present tense, the visuals my mind conjured when the floral meetings were described, and Elliot just being *cough* Elliot were all strong aspects of the novel. There is spice that I personally enjoyed, but it’s not an overwhelming amount if that’s not your thing. She forms connections with people easily especially her clients which she was made to believe by her mentor, is unprofessional in her field of work. I don’t personally love reading about female characters that have no backbone or understanding of reality especially regarding the situation in the book with the groomsman.
