About this deal
Once you've done it a couple of times it's very quick to thread the seat belt through the back of the car seat and secure it safely in place with the extra safety latch.
The final product I’ve been testing out has been the Milestone All-In-One car seat and it is just brilliant! This is perfect when your little one nods off on a journey, as it stops their head from lolling forwards. We have one of these for our now nearly six year old daughter and have had it since it first came in to the market pretty much. The multi-height headrest and harness system has 10 positions and the fact that you can do it so easily with one hand is definitely appealing. The three riding modes are perfect for my family's needs as I have a six month old, a three year old and an almost five year old. When it comes time to use the seat as a booster, the seat easily transitions with just a few simple steps. There is an insert to place into the seat for young babies, which can be removed when they are bigger and no longer need the extra cushioning inside the seat. R44 (legally known as ECE R44/04) car seats are divided into groups based on weight, with some covering multiple groups.
It features a five-point harness system, which securely holds the child in place and reduces the risk of injury in the event of an accident. The no-rethread harness system is a godsend – who has time to faff around when you need to get your kid in the car? Inspect and clean harness buckle from time to time to remove any objects or debris that could prevent correct installation.
It is very easy to get in and out of the car, although at 19lbs, it is not the lightest car seat around. I heaved a sigh of relief to know that I didn’t have to do anything except lift it out of the packaging, take the baby seat pad off (since my youngest child is 22 months) use the car’s seats belts, which is again straightforward. Before moving to a to forward-facing 5-point harness seat for babies who weigh between 9kg and 18kg ( Group 1).
It has four recline positions in total: two rear facing positions and two forward facing positions, so my children will be comfortable on long journeys or if they fall asleep - which happens nearly every journey no matter how short! In the UK, the law states that children must use a child car seat until they’re 12 years old or 135cm tall, whichever comes first (my rather tall 9yr old currently measures 135cm on the nose). It’s really simple to use, and really does last from birth until your child no longer needs to use a car seat.
Without the cushion pad though, there is a danger that you may pinch your child’s skin when using the buckle. The headrest should sit just above your child’s shoulders, so do keep an eye on it; sudden growth spurts will have them squashed up into it before you realise. We bought 2 of these for our boys and found them perfect for them can be a bit of a pain to get the seatbelt through a plug and the recline isn't that great but other than that they are fantastic car seats! However, when you look further afield, you can compare the Milestone to other multi-stage, combination car seats like the Diono Radian V, Be Safe iZi Plus, Cybex Sirona or the Recaro Zero.
