All of our children’s shoes are wider than conventional children’s shoes. If you normally wear a larger size to get a wider fit in conventional shoes, you may not have to do that with Xero Shoes. Barefoot sandals such as Xero Shoes Z trail sandals and Z trek can be used for a range of different activities. I use mine for walking, hiking, and an active lifestyle in general. I’ve also worn them in place of water shoes, and out of all the sandals I’ve worn, I’d rate the Z-trail as the best sandals for walking on a wide variety of terrains. I certainly prefer the Z-trail as a beach sandal as opposed to flip-flops, which aren’t always great for feet!

The Genesis and the original Cloud are unisex styles. For example a men’s 7 is the same exact shoe as a women’s 8. Oversize your shoes, or fail to adjust the heel strap properly, and you can bury your toes like this, which can negatively impact your movement: Verify the fit by printing the appropriate size template and comparing it to your foot. This step is very important for getting a great fit the first time. Comparison with the Unshoes Pah Tempe On the left is the Pah Tempe from Unshoes and on the right is the Xero Z-Trek Since the Z-Treks can be pretty slappy and its dense sole is not very forgiving, the Z-Treks are an excellent tool for teaching good running form. The dense naked rubber requires soft landings, but I suspect a “Z-Trek Cloud” is right around the corner to provide a bit of comfort and shave off some weight.

While I’m generally not a Velcro fan for the sound and the potential to wear out/become unglued, I don’t find these bothersome or ever need to adjust that part. Caring for your Xero Shoes

Barefoot Scale — With a flexible 5.5mm sole, the Amuri Z Trek is great for experienced minimalist runners and excellent for hikers/campers of all skill levels.

The Z-Trek is our only sandal that fits larger than expected for many customers. For example, many customers who are a size 10 in the Genesis and Z-Trail are a size 9 in the Z-Trek. The straps are definitely well attached because I tripped up on a big U-shaped nail one day, which wedged itself right through the front of my Xero sandals. With my body weight flying forward, there would have been a fair bit of force through the strap attachments, but the sandals seemed to cope just fine! The Pah Tempe has two sole options and three footbeds to choose from while the Z-Trek (for now) is only offered in a single flavor. The Pah Tempe can be equipped with either a 4mm or 6mm Unshoes sole with a choice of either a 1mm EVA footbed, a 3mm ground cork/eva hybrid footbed, and a 4mm “super” cork/eva footbed. These options, coupled with the myriad of sole shapes, make the Pah Tempe very customizable to the needs of the user. Traction is very good with this sole. The bottom is covered chevron arrows that are oriented forward in the top 70% of the sole for uphill grip, while the bottom 30% of the sole features downward facing arrows for downhill stability and confidence. Genesis & Cloud– The Genesis and Cloud huarache sandals fit true to size. Be sure to confirm your size with the printable templates below.*Mesa Trail – The Mesa Trail runs small. We recommend choosing 1/2 size larger than your usual size.* For running: allow a couple weeks for your feet to adjust if you are new to running in minimalist footwear (See our minimalist footwear adaption plan) This single loop design in the Pah Tempe is self-adjusting. Once you tighten the strap at one point, the tension equalizes across the entire fit of the sandal. This makes the Pah Tempe very versatile and “loadable” regardless of direction, pace, or incline. The primary difference between the Xero Z-trails and other sandals is the strapping system, which goes over the top of the foot instead of between the toes on all other shoes
