Note: Rather than re-list every supplement with timings and descriptions in this review, I'm opting to simply provide a basic Note: Screenshots are sourced from 1080 Blu-rays, though be aware this set does not include 1080 discs for the actual series Thrones: The Complete Collector's Set, which also came out late last year. In what might be seen as an early ploy to provide some All seventy-three episodes are included on thirty 4K Ultra HD discs, which actually do include significant special features too. What’s more, three additional standard Blu-rays have been included with additional bonus features. Here’s a disc-by-disc breakdown of all the extras you get in this set. The reunion special is assembled in segments focused on Houses Lannister, Stark, & Targaryen and concludes with the key players all onstage for their final reflections on the years they shared in Westeros and Essos.A television show that took place during a magical medieval time period, populated with zombies, mystical creatures, monsters, giants, and dragons was not expected to be one of the best shows on television. But that's what Game Of Thrones became - the best, most-watched, and talked about the show for eight years showcasing the lives and deaths of several kingdoms in the fictional land of Westeros. Closely following a group of families known as the Starks, the Targaryens, and the Lannisters, all of who are vying for the iron throne to rule the world, cross vicious paths of blood, betrayal, torture, and sex before winter shows up on the front lawn. Okay, that’s going too far, but the set isvery nice, particularly the SteelBook edition from Best Buy. Not only is this Game of Throneswith better picture quality than ever before, but it comes with all the extras the show has produced over the years and then some, from deleted scenes to History & Lore features to full-on documentaries.

Episode Two commentary with Dave Hill, Michael McElhatton, Iwan Rhoen, Liam Cunningham, and Ben Crompton Season Three (for complete details, please consult our Game of Thrones: The Complete Third Season Blu-ray review) First, there was an HBO Shop exclusive version of Season One on DVD that included a special DVD bonus disc with a Creating the World of Westeros featurette. Second, the Season Two Blu-ray available at Target had a bonus disc that added Invitation to the Set, Arya’s New Look, Art Direction, and Weapons featurettes. Third, the Season Three Blu-ray was available at Target with a bonus disc that included a 90-minute An Evening with Game of Thrones 2013 Emmy panel discussion. Finally, Season Eight was available on Blu-ray at Target and Walmart with exclusive bonus discs that added How the Storm Was Born and From Renderings to Reality: The Visual Effects of Season 8 respectively. It’s a shame that this content isn’t included on the 4K set, but you should be aware that most of it is available for free viewing on YouTube (at least some of it—and actually quite a lot more—on HBO’s official Game of Thrones channel). And though it’s not a bonus disc, don’t forget that HBO made a change to Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season after eagle-eyed fans detected the likeness of a certain political figure as one of the severed heads in the season’s final episode. So if you want that scene as originally broadcast, you’ll want to hang onto that first Blu-ray set in particular.and I'd say that while things are better in seasons two and three, they're not quite at the lustrous levels seen throughout the later seasons). Through eight seasons, this HBO series grew in popularity by the millions, crossing over into not just genre fandom, but mainstream pop culture, weaving in and out of detailed and complex storylines, family drama, and carnage alike for almost a decade. Through large surprises, twist season cliff hangers, outrageous deaths, and wonderful romances, Game Of Thrones set the high bar for future tv shows and stories to be told over the course of several years - that is until its final season which is arguably its worst season. Still, it's about the journey and not the destination, correct? The amount of time, detail, love, and nuanced performances that went into this series is uncanny and might never be replicated again. There's a lot to love and enjoy in this immersive world of Game Of Thrones. The improved watchability of “The Long Night” might actually be the best thing about this set, since the episode is so important to the story. But once you’re done with the episodes themselves, you’ll have tons and tons and extras to enjoy. Here’s absolutely everything included in this set: the 4K UHD releases of the first and last seasons) have a lot of salient information about cameras and DIs and other relevant datapoints, but the palpable renditions of fortress masonry or things like the wood grain patterns on some of the ships.
