About this deal

Now, I must admit that when I started reading Death of the Black Widow, I honestly did not know too much about the book, apart from what was in the synopsis. There are so many twists and turns along the way that I will not say anything more about the plot lest I give away spoilers. She quickly and expertly attacked him, winding him as she escaped down a nearby alley not to be seen again…or so we might think.

Now I know I may need to explain her further but I hope the just of what she is comes through here and you can appreciate what type of true evil she really is. Murder many times over and over many years but its a compelling book to read and you get to the point where you have to keep reading to find an answer to it all. Very similar vibe to one of my favorite TV shows from the mid-70s, "Kolchak: The Night Stalker," starring Darren McGavin as a reporter hunting down supernatural killers, while nobody else believes him. Given their respective CV's I'm guessing Patterson did the police procedural parts and Barker handled the supernatural elements.

This deadly string of secrets didn't begin in his home city--but he's going to make sure it ends there. I have long expressed that the work of James Patterson can be a real hit and miss, depending on the day and those who are collaborating. This is one black widow who has little regard for her victims, but lures them in with a variety of charms.

The people of Japan believe that everyone has an ikigai - a reason for being; the thing that gets you out of bed each morning. The premise of the story is not believable, the characters thoroughly unlikeable and I really do not care what happens to them next or at all. During his first night on patrol, Detroit PD Officer Walter O’Brien attends a crime scene with his veteran partner. I own copies of the Patterson/Barker collaborations The Coast to Coast Murders and The Noise, but I haven't read them yet.

As Walter is driving her to the emergency room, she suddenly feels like she’s going to be sick and asks him to pull over. Coming to the conclusion that the girl who escaped from him on this first night wasn’t altogether human was something that took years—and part of his sanity. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. It's not a believable story, in fact it reminds me of one of Patterson's I read years ago about babies being stolen and changed to fairies.
