Many people have been loving the Cake Yarns that are out on the market but those are not a gradient yarn like the Super Saver Ombre yarn. Red Heart made the Ombre Super Saver Yarnin a generous ball size so you can make beautiful projects with just ONE ball! You can easily find this yarn in a variety of stores, including a lot of local WalMart stores. It’s affordable, has a great amount of yardage per skein and is pretty. This month my contribution to our Scarf Club is the Ocean Breeze Scarf. The Ocean Breeze Scarf is crocheted with 1 ball of Red Heart Super Saver Ombre yarn (10 oz/283 g; 482 yds/440 m) and a 6.0 mm (J) Tambooti Furls Crochet Hook. Red Heart sent me free samples of the Red Heart Super Saver Ombre to try and I really love it – both the smooth color transitions andthebeautiful sheen of the yarn. The yarn is not scratchy, it does not pile and it holds its stitch definition perfectly. You can substitute any Red Heart Super Saver yarn for the yarn I used in this pattern. You can easily make this scarf as large, or as small as you’d like. If you do not want the tassels you can easily omit them as well! The finished scarf is very long but lightweight. The Ocean Breeze Scarf is easy to make and easy to wear. Have fun crocheting this one! Round 2: Ch 3, [skip next sc, slip st in next sc, *ch 3,skip next sc, slip st in next sc; repeat from * to corner, ch 3, slip st in same corner st, ch 3]; repeat for each side of blanket.

For the decrease rows we will be skipping the final st of the row (the chain 3 you crocheted at the beginning of the previous row). For the increase rows we will be working 2 stitches (the chain 3 and 1 dc) in the first st of each row.

I include the instructions for the chain 3 at the beginning of the row for which the chain 3 counts as a stitch; rather than on the row prior after the instruction to Turn. This will make it easier to keep count of your stitches. I use a Magic Ring to begin my project to make the corner edge resemble a triangle shape. If you prefer you can alternatelywork this: R1: Ch 5, beg in the 4th ch and work 1 dc in each rem ch across. The skipped ch 3 counts as your first dc. [3 dc] I have found that I really love using the Super Saver Ombre yarn for baby blankets. The colors are absolutely gorgeous!Take your tie (both strands) from Step 1 and thread it on your yarn needle. Using a simple stitch (like a whipstitch) join it to the end of your scarf. I whipstitched 4 times across the final row of the scarf to make it look like it continued from the scarf and then weaved in the ends and threaded the remainder straight down the center of the tassel and out the bottom. Round 3:Slip st in first ch-3 space, ch 4 (counts as dc, ch-1), *dc in next ch-3 space, ch 1; repeat from * to corner, work 3 dc in corner ch-3 space, repeat for each side of blanket, ending with a slip st in 3rd ch of turning ch.

R146: Ch 3 and work dc2tog over the next 2sts. Sk the last st of the row. Finish off and weave in ends. Step 1: Wrap your yarn around the item 50 times. Cut the end at the bottom edge.Cut a second piece of yarn about 10 inches long and tie it securely (I double knotted mine) around the top edge of the yarn strands.Cut the bottom edge of all the yarn strands.

You can substitute any yarn and hook for this stitch pattern – just remember when you substitute if your gauge is different, the finished size of your project will also be different.
