The Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has today (Wednesday 22 November) announced a range of tax, benefits and savings measures. We round up the key announcements and what they mean for you. Calcium carbonate is converted to calcium chloride by gastric acid (hydrochloric acid) in the stomach, with the resulting formation of carbondioxide and water. Some of the calcium is absorbed from the intestines but themajority is reconverted into insoluble calcium salts such as carbonate andstearate which is excreted in the faeces. If you are only experiencing symptoms a few times a month that can be attributed to food and/or drink then it may not be necessary to see a doctor; self-diagnosis and treatment is likely to be appropriate. This product contains sucrose and glucose syrup and as such, care is required in patients with diabetes mellitus. People with high levels of calcium in their blood (hypercalcaemia), for example as a result of bone marrow cancer, cancer that has spread to the bones or overactivity of the parathyroid glands (hyperparathyroidism).

There are various reasons why someone may suffer from acid reflux or heartburn, the most common being a failure of the lower oesophageal sphincter. This sphincter comprises a ring of muscles that act as a valve, allowing food to enter the stomach whilst keeping acid from exiting. If the lower oesophageal sphincter doesn’t close fully, it can let acid leak up out of the stomach. Remegel tablets are indicated for the relief of acid indigestion and heartburn, and associated stomach upsets (dyspepsia) 4.2 Posology and method of administration If your child has overnight feeds, the calcium salts should be added to their feed as recommended by the specialist doctor who is looking after your child.
