About this deal

In recent years, the BBC ran some trials with 4K content on iPlayer – namely World Cup games, Wimbledon matches, as well as Blue Planet II, Dynasties and even Dracula. Definitely interested in this PVR , unless Humax sort the aura out and the aura app is decent then that might just trump the T3-R. Just reporting in, no issues so far, it's so much faster than my old Panasonic, and the novelty of being able to set up recordings, delete old ones, etc while there's a recording already going on is still enjoyable.

Freeview Play is a way of accessing all digital free-to-air TV channels in the UK without spending anything beyond the cost of a set-top box. The quad-core processor ensures lightning-fast responses, Ultra HD HDR delivers stunning pictures and 802. Sometimes I leave my PVR on the channel of something I plan to watch, so if I get distracted I don't miss the start (or for Ad-skipping), then something else comes up and I'd like to record it, but currently can't as quick-record only starts at the current time, despite it having all the data in the buffer (this is from a channel without a catch-up service)? The Aura is now Humax's flagship product which needs to succeed and they seem determined to ensure it does. What I liked was that Humax had taken the technical decision to use Android (now Google) TV as the base OS platform which has a long support life and makes application development and releases very flexible. That also has a pro-level of shuttle control, never again seen, instant forwards/backwards at any speed, ah the good old days. Note, however, that once you switch to a different channel, that two hour ‘buffer’ is deleted and recording starts again – for the new channel you’re on). To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

The device is rather small (265x53x207mm) and light (678g), and while it won’t exactly be the centrepiece of your living room, its shiny all-black design will fit nicely on your TV cabinet. The major issue we've had reported is that some people have found their T3-R keeps rebooting shortly after booting. Connecting the T3-R to the internet is essential for using its FreeviewPlay and streaming features, and that can be done either with an Ethernet cable (connected directly to your router or via a Powerline Adapter) or via WiFi (802b/g/n).IIRC it just allowed you to start recording from some point in the buffer you'd gone back to, then stop either by pressing stop or setting a multiple of 15 minutes to continue recording for.

If your device is located far away from your router, you might want to look into a WiFi range booster. In addition to the channel selection, there’s a full complement of mainstream catch-up apps (they come as part of the Freeview Play package). So once a programme overruns its scheduled end time, if a tuner is needed for another programme that is starting at its scheduled start time, or later, then the T3-R will stop the recording. I’ve had a Humax 5000T for quite some time now and although it may be a little bit slow at turning on sometimes, I’ve never really had any problems with it.My lg tv can for youtube but not recordings and I have an old now tv black box but the youtube app does not support changing playback speed.

Freeview is still quite popular, despite all the streaming services we’re all now used to – as it provides 80+ channels without any monthly fees (except for the TV Licence fee). Designed in the UK by Manhattan, the T3-R combines Freeview TV (over 85 channels) with on-demand streaming apps including BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, My5 and UKTV Play, as well as YouTube and YouTube Kids. It also allows the adding of content scheduled to broadcast in the future, as well as the setting of reminders. In 2010, two years after the birth of Freesat, Manhattan launched its first Freesat box, the Manhattan DS-100, followed by several other Freesat boxes (they still sell the popular Manhattan SX Freesat receiver). The two devices will be major upgrades over the previous models, in many ways – and we’ll be able to tell you more about them in the near future. Yes - the T4 box needs the internet to access the great range of On-Demand services they offer and take advantage of all of their features. The Manhattan T3-R supports 4K (UltraHD) and HDR content, but for the time being, you won’t get to use it much.
