Indices of Deprivation 2019 data, and data from previous releases, are available in fully open and linkable data formats via the department’s Open Data Communities platform. Indices of Deprivation 2019 local authority maps The NSPL does this by allocating UK postcodes to Output Areas (OA) using the same methodology as that for the ONSPD. These OAs are then referenced to a wide range of higher geographies (for example, local authority districts) by a best-fit methodology that uses Census population data.
