You could even invite students to come up to pull the different tabs to demonstrate a mess turning into a masterpiece! It has lots of brilliant flaps and things that my toddler loves to interact with, for example it shows a bent page corner that has been turned into a penguin, or a rolled up ball of paper that's now a sheep. This is a great production feat and lovely to look at, though it feels rather short as a reading book.Barney Saltzberg is the author and illustrator of close to 50 books for children, including Beautiful Oops! Kids see firsthand as they go through the book that any smudge, smear or stain can lead to something absolutely marvelous - with a little imagination. But little kids sometimes have trouble dealing with their mistakes, whether it’s a piece of artwork they’ve torn by accident, or juice they’ve spilled on their favorite drawing. Then, encourage the students to turn the blobs of paint into something beautiful by adding their own touches on them! The interactive elements work beautifully with the photo-collaged "mistakes," never overwhelming the intent with showiness.
