Due to how much power this scarifier has, we suggest using the highest setting first to see how much debris is removed. Using the lowest setting first might damage your lawn so use that setting last if required. All of the AL-KO products that I have used, or even just seen, in the past have looked sleek, modern, and professional, and this scarifier is no exception. It not only encompasses the brand’s visual aesthetic, but its appearance stands out from the competition too.

The drum on this scarifier isn’t removable, unlike the other models I tested, so it can only be used as a scarifier (not an aerator as well). However, it performs this one function efficiently; it lifts moss and thatch from the lawn and is a great option for maintenance. It doesn’t cut quite as deeply as some of the other machines that I reviewed, such as the Einhell, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Not every lawn needs intense scarification! If maintenance is what you’re after, rather than a complete do-over, the Bosch will produce great results. Electric lawn scarifiers are quiet, lightweight and cost effective. They are great to use on small to medium lawns. Electric scarfiers do a great job of hauling the moss and thatch from your grass with minimal effort on your part. They won’t need re-filling like a petrol scarifier either. Adjusting the height is simple and fast. The correct working depth will depend on the condition of the lawn and the wear on the blades. You will know if the working depth is incorrect as the shaft will stop or the engine will stall. The petrol engine means that there are no cables to worry about and you have the freedom to move easily. The lawn should not be scarified too early - only when ground frost can be excluded. It is also important that the soil is dry. To achieve a good result with scarifying, the grass should first be cut to a length of approx. 3 to 4 cm. This makes it easier for the scarifier roller to get through the grass. that is, depending on the weather conditions in March and April. It is also possible in September, as long as there is sufficient soil heat. scarify once or twice a year is sufficient.

The fact that it’s smaller also means it’s nearly half the weight of the Cobra so if weight is a concern, this is the model to choose. In addition to scarifying, the lawn should be aired regularly. Some of our machines are already equipped with an aerator roller in addition to the included scarifier roller. Unlike scarifying, aeration is possible more often throughout the year, so that the green remains fresh for longer. In technical terms, this process is called 'aeration'. Gardeners usually scarify their lawn in spring to refresh it after the cold season. This should be done again in autumn. Especially if the winter before was particularly hard. In this way, the lawn will once again receive the necessary nutrients to survive the next winter well.

Scarifying or Raking: The roller change does not require tools, so it is simple to change from the scarifier roller with 3-stage steel blades to the lawnrake roller with efficient steel spring tines complete lawn care in one machine.
