The House of Metaxa
The white in the design represents Cycladic architecture, the blue for the Aegean Sea, and the bright gold for the sun. The Metaxa Private Reserve is the Master Blenders’ personal blend only made once a year, while the Metaxa Angels’ Treasure is ‘what the angels have left behind’. There is no need for ice or mixers; just a simple glass of Metaxa Angels’ Treasure served just below room temperature. A full-bodied but refined Metaxa with hints of dry fruits, liquorice, oak, nutmeg, honey and white raisins. Violet and rose is very pronounced in the long marmalade and elegant oak finish with black pepper spice.Pour both of them into a large pitcher and use a spoon with a long handle to mix it together until both liquids are well incorporated. Metaxa 7 Stars is a pot stilled 7-year old brandy blend of Savatiano, Soultanina, and Black Corinth grapes blended with aromatic Muscat wine and fragrant botanicals. Mediterranean botanicals are added as part of the finishing process, including May rose, also a component of Chanel No.
Metaxa Amphora 7 Star : The Whisky Exchange
Probably, there are experts who can distinguish the taste of four-year-old “Metaxa” brandy from a 12-year-old one. Metaxa ( Greek: Μεταξά) is a line of branded Greek alcoholic drinks, each a flavored amber blend of spirits and Muscat wine, aged in oak barrels, and packaged in amphora-shaped bottles. The House of Metaxa was founded by a Greek merchant and entrepreneur named Spyros Metaxas, born on the island of Euboea. He created the first Greek brandy and was involved in the foundation of the first distillation facility in 1888, a little over 50 years after the Greek War of Independence.
To celebrate the house of Metaxa’s 130 year birthday, Master Blender Constantinos Raptis released 130 decanters of the most iconic and precious elixir, the AEN Cask No 2 – Despina. Grapefruit or orange will add a fresh citrus taste to the drink while chocolate shreds will add sweetness. Maybe some people like the idea of a brandy distillate being diluted with sweet wine but I find the flavors actually conflict.
