About this deal

Camcar Textron trademarked a special screw drive with the name Torx. The main characteristic of this drive is its 6-point pattern that looks like a star-shaped pattern. As a result, many started calling it a Star Screw. Tamper Proof Torx (Secure Torx) version of the “Plus” had only 5 Lobed instead of 6. These are not that popular. The most common sizes are T10 and T25. The head height is 0.062 inch (1.6 mm). The head diameter is 0.50 inch (1.27 cm). Some other specialized sizes include T55 and T27.

The following is a Torx Bit Sizes Chart for Internal Torx. Two dimensions are important with respect to Torx screws. They are Point to Point and Diameter of the screw threads. Torx Size The TORX(r) drive system has several benefits, including an easy solution to a common fastener problem, higher productivity, and enhanced reliability. You can also reduce total assembly costs by using the TORX(r) Drive System. SAE vs metric equivalents The Torx screwdriver was invented by Camcar Textron in 1967. It is considered one of the most efficient fastening systems. The design has six points and a center pin. This design allows for more torque and minimizes wear. Torx drive has several benefits over Phillips drives. Torx is a trademark name for Star drive by Camcar Textron. You can see Torx Screws in computers, home appliances, automobiles. They are noy compatible with Hex drives and Allen Keys. You have to use the correct size bit to tighten or loosen a Torx Screw.Using a Torx Bit Sizes Chart is a great way to know which size to buy for a specific fastener. The chart can help you understand the difference between metric and SAE, and can also tell you what size is a good fit for the job at hand. It can also help you choose between an external Torx and an inverted Torx. Torx Bit Sizes Chart The Torx Plus, also known as the Internal Plus, is an improved version of the original design. This version is designed to provide better torque transfer than the original design. The lobes on the screw allow for increased torque without causing much wear on the tool. The TORX(r) Drive System was invented by Camcar Textron in 1967. It was designed to provide an alternative to the slotted-head screwdrivers of the day. The patented system is trademarked by Acumen Intellectual Properties, LLC. Other manufacturers often use the Torx name to promote their products. After the original patent expired in 1990, Camcar Textron modified and improved the design of original Torx and released a new version Torx Plus. Depending on internal or external drive, the Torx Plus is known as Internal Plus and External Plus respectively.

Fast Reliable Service... your goods will normally be delivered within 1 to 3 working days - call us if you need them urgently! Whether you are buying a new set of Torx tools or replacing a broken one, you will need to make sure you buy the right size. There are three standard sizes of Torx, and each one can be distinguished by the T before a number. In addition to these, there are also specialized sizes that are designed for specific uses. You can browse the chart below to find the right tool for your project. As previously noted - the original Torx drive system was developed by Camcar Textron in 1967. But this early specification has undergone some beneficial development and improvement highlighted in this post. Drive System Issues in Production The metric system is also the standard for airplanes and boats. To make the process of repairing vehicles easier, the SAE standardized the measuring system. It's also been adopted by major vehicle manufacturing hubs in other countries. A key advantage of the Torx system is that is allows higher torque transmission than other drive systems enabling fastenings to be tighter and therefore more secure. The generic name for such screw and drives is Star while the popular name Torx is a trademark of Camcar Textron. Since the expiry, several manufacturers started producing Torx bits. All our products are very competitively priced... but more importantly, we believe they offer you the Very Best Value! Slotted screw heads which accept flat-bladed screwdriver bits are very familiar. This style of screw and driver is not appropriate for automated assembly as tool alignment is not automatic.

The metric system is more widely used in other countries. In the United States, the Imperial system is still used. It is based on the Roman Empire's system, which considered one foot to be the length of a human being. This means that the same tool in metric units won't fit an Imperial nut. The Torx Plus Drive system was developed to improve assembly line performance. Alignment difficulties between drive bits and recesses can slow down production lines. The Torx Autosert feature guides the driver bit accurately into the recess creating a self-centering engagement action. The design of the Torx Plus resembled that of a gear with more square lobes. This design change resulted in application of even greater torque on the head with minimum wear. The drive systems used by various fasteners have a huge impact on productivity and product quality. For example, an inefficient drive system will increase assembly time and therefore eat into profitability. If you need to know which size of Torx is the right one for a specific project, take a look at the Torx bit sizes chart. It will tell you which Torx bits are compatible with which screws. KC Tool

Having a good understanding of the difference between an External Torx and an Inverted Torx will ensure that you get the right bit for your project. Both types of screws have similar characteristics, but you'll want to use the type that best matches your needs.

For example, if you have a screw with TX size, then you have to use a Torx Screwdriver or drive bit of TX size only. The metric system is a good fit for larger distances. It is not as accurate for smaller distances. Tamper-Proof The SAE is an acronym for the Society of Automotive Engineers. It was created to standardize measurement in the engineering space. The SAE is now known as SAE International, and it has 138,000 members worldwide. The organization sets standards in North America for the construction and automobile industries. The most obvious SAE vs metric equivalent is the size of the Torx bit. These bits come in a variety of sizes and are typically not interchangeable. The smallest of the lot is the T10, which is about the size of a 1/8" hex. The largest is the T47, which is about the size of a quarter. These bits are designed to work in many thread systems. Torx Plus is designed for high torque transmission. This means that higher torques can be used to securely tighten fasteners without incurring additional wear and tear on the tools. High torque capability is also very important in service situations where corrosion may increase the torque required to loosen a fastening. Tamper Resistant Torx Plus Drive

Some other versions of Torx are Torx Paralobe, Torx Ttap, Torx Plus Maxx Stems and Audi Torx. Torx Bit Sizes Chart
