About this deal

Tipping my head forward to look down just made this worse as the sweat seemed to run out of the front exhaust channel. The Foray follows a similar aesthetic to many of Giro's range of helmets with quite a rounded shape and plenty of swoopy lines. Giro: The Foray™ drafts off the bold design language of our premium Synthe™ helmet, and offers many of our key features including durable In-Mold Construction and the Roc Loc® 5 fit system with two-way fit adjustment. Metropolis International Group Limited, 10th Floor, Southern House, Wellesley Grove, Croydon, CR0 1XG.

Undoubtedly the first thing to notice is that the overall design of the Giro Foray cycle helmet is incredibly like its older and more established sibling, the Synthe. Add to this the fact that my size M Foray weighs in at 271g on the Abbott family’s digital kitchen scales, compared to the 285g of my Synthe, and the positives just keep on coming.Ian has since raced everything from cross-country MTB to 24-hour events, and over the last 20 years has graduated into the world of Lycra, skinny tyres and time trial bikes before catching the Ironman triathlon bug.

It feels the business, it largely looks the business, and it packs the same safety features as the more expensive helmet. While this helmet never let us down with its breezy performance, there are other offerings in the lineup with special features that are likely to contribute to better ventilation across a wider range of conditions. You will be covered for the first 10 days of ownership against theft and accidental damage, so you can purchase with confidence. One area where the Foray MIPS falls a little short of its more expensive competitors is in our durability ratings. Base in Santa Cruz, California - the company has built a reputation as one of the leading manufactures in the innovation of cycle helmet technology, as they have proven with their highly rated Giro Synthe helmet which they launched mid 2014.Ok the helmet itself has excellent ventilation and a clever airflow system but for those riders who sweat a lot, the thin padding doesn't quite do enough to channel the sweat away from the face. In addition to external ventilation system, Giro have added channels on the inside of the helmet liner to act as exhausts for releasing the hot air build up inside the helmet. Like the Synthe, the Foray is made using Giro's In-Mold construction which uses an ESP (Expanded Polystyrene) liner that is 'fused' with a Polycarbonate shell. This significant increase in air channelling makes a difference that riders will immediately feel and appreciate. Pull it out to extend the Roc Loc's cranial coverage but as soon as you put the helmet on it had a tendency to revert back to its lowest setting far too easily.

Its array of 21 vents is broadly identical to those of my beloved Synthe, and the frontal cavities are actually bigger. back into a box for the courier, there is some minor disassembly such as removing pedals and handlebars.Unfortunately I seem to find myself at the crossover size of most manufactures with a 59cm head but having tried it on, the large size was clearly too big. Credit subject to status, UK residents only, Wiggle Ltd (In Administration) acts as a broker and offers finance from a restricted range of finance providers. The micro-adjust dial works as a ratchet system and draws the restraint system in, allowing you to have a secure and near perfect fit. This is more a reflection of my head shape than the helmet per se and as with any helmet it is important to try some on to determine which suits you. After several hundred miles of use, the EPS shell construction has revealed no pressure points on the temple or elsewhere about my pointy skull.

It didn't fit perfectly for myself with a couple of pressure spots that were noticeable when riding. With a similar style as Giro's flagship models, we think the Foray MIPS is a classy choice for riders looking for a classic and professional look without breaking the bank.

Our testers find the Foray MIPS to be a comfortable helmet with adequate padding and easy adjustability for an optimum fit. Utilising the MIPS® (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System), the Giro Foray MIPS Helmet features the Roc Loc 5 System with a two way adjustable fit. The only thing that doesn’t instantly appeal is the less than classy gloss finish to the black portions of the shell (although that’s clearly a matter of personal taste). In-Mould Construction - In-mould construction fuses a tough polycarbonate outer shell with the helmet’s impact-absorbing foam liner. Whilst the ventilation system is impressive, unfortunately the foam padding at the front of the helmet is split into right and left sections and did little to prevent the sweat from dripping out of the helmet and into my eyes.
