The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal. Despite the extraordinary success of his books, Chris, his wife Ana, and their daughter Chloë, continue to live on their farm, with their numerous dogs, cats, chickens, sheep and misanthropic parrot. It is everything that made the first book so hugely successful - endearing, heartwarming, self-deprecating, sometimes surreal. This whole episode was such a singular occurrence that I could hardly resist writing about it… and because the whole experience of being adopted by and then living with a wild bird, was – and still is, ten years later – so fascinating, I wrote pages and pages on the subject.
