About this deal

It was so fun to read, with the heavier, emotional sections balancing nicely with light-hearted humour and heartwarming stories of friendship. She is a chaotic force of nature and a committed over-sharer who is on a constant, often hilarious, mission to undermine the patriarchy.

This is a podcast about all the things that we are made to feel ashamed of, but should instead be embracing, and no one knows that better than Grace. The fun is in Hamilton-Paterson's offhand observations and delicate touch in handling his two unreliable misfits as they find each other--and there's lots of it.I don't think this book will appeal to all as in places it's quite crude, however it does have some really important messages and it's refreshingly honest.

Other chapters are revelatory about the darkness, self-loathing and self-sabotage that risked defining her twenties. It brilliantly discusses sexism, feminism, politics, assault, mental health, general questionable decisions etc etc etc. It's great we can talk about sex, life and unhappy moments with complete honesty and realism and I really appreciated this about the book. This episode Grace talks to influencer and podcaster Oenone Forbat about struggles with body image while growing up, therapy, and the trouble with Instagram vs mental health. I’ve seen her stand up twice in London (most recently at her show in Soho a few months ago), love her social media content that provides me with laughs when I’m procrastinating and love all of her podcasts.

It started as a 2 for me, was definitely 4 of 5 in parts, but averaged at 3 (which I consider good), all because in portions I found it slightly repetitive.

Ummmm, I don't wanna say I didn't enjoy it because there were plenty of moments that really resonated with me and also I laughed out loud at, but I duno. At only 27, Grace has got a lot to learn about being an adult, but she’s already got a lot to share about being a disgrace, and how she came to be utterly, disgustingly, disgracefully proud of it. Written by Grace Campbell, the daughter of politician Alistair Campbell, this is a 90% light-hearted read which tells the tale of the adventures of her vagina! I love her celebration of female friendship groups and how they can provide the same sort of value, if not more, to our sense of self than romantic relationships.

We don’t choose to carry it, in fact, most of the time we don’t even know we are carrying it, because it’s so inherently coded into our behaviour and our attitudes.Hamilton-Paterson, one of our finest prose stylists, is a national treasure; and Amazing Disgrace [. Just because I know there are people out there with more privilege than me doesn’t mean I don’t have to acknowledge the power structures that I’ve benefited from… Checking your privilege is a good first step, but saying that isn’t enough. But most of all, I loved the brutal honesty with which she took mental health conversations head on, and how she (not without humor) normalized emotions we often blame ourselves for feeling, especially as women.
