About this deal

Percy had stayed aboard to watch for threats from the sea, but he hadn’t liked the idea of Annabeth going on this expedition without him – especially since it would be the first time they were apart since returning from Tartarus. Later on, Nico arrives at Camp Half-Blood by shadow travel, which initially terrifies Juniper and Leneus, and he briefly discusses Grover's disappearance with them, after which he encounters Percy. Nico is finally able to persuade him to go through with their plan, and both of them and Mrs. O'Leary shadow-travel to Luke's old house to meet his mother, May Castellan. Afterward, they briefly encounter the goddess Hestia, who greets them warmly and offers them food. Death Trance: In The Mark of Athena, when he is sealed in the Bronze Jar, Nico shows that he can go into a hibernation called a Death Trance using the seeds of Persephone, which can only be eaten by a child of Hades. The Death Trance induces him to virtually die for a day, meaning he consumes significantly less oxygen and needs no other sustenance. The Lost Hero | The Son of Neptune | The Mark of Athena | The House of Hades | The Blood of Olympus He recalled what Notus the South Wind had told him: A wind that blows aimlessly is no good to anyone.

December 17, 2009 - Jason Grace, Piper McLean, and Leo Valdez go to Camp Half-Blood and the Prophecy of Seven is set in motion. Randolph and Skofnung dissolve because the former brought out the sword in the presence of women (Sigyn, Thrynga, Sam, and Alex)

May 2006 - Yancy Academy visits the Manhattan Metropolitan Museum of Art to explore the Greek and Roman artifacts. Nico's theory to gain an edge over the Titans is finally revealed: it is to make Percy invincible by having him bathe in the River Styx, similar to the myth of Achilles. In The Blood of Olympus, it is revealed that Nico knew Percy would not like the plan and worried over how it would affect their relationship, sarcastically saying Percy would "really love him for that". It is shown that after Bianca died, Hades believes that he has no competent child, repeatedly mentioning that Bianca could do a better job at fulfilling their father's demands. At some point earlier, Nico began preparing for his plan, and did some research on Luke's past, and had found May Castellan, his mother. The partiers yelled and pounded their cups. The ghoul made his way to the central fountain. The crowd parted, and Jason realized the fountain wasn’t filled with water. From the three-foot-tall pedestal, a geyser of sand spewed upward, arcing into an umbrella-shaped curtain of white particles before spilling into the circular basin. In Arachne's lair, when Percy tries to save Annabeth from falling into Tartarus, Percy catches hold of a ledge just in time. Nico tries to help, but he is out of reach. Annabeth tells Percy to let go, but Percy says that he will not lose her again. Percy tells Nico that they will meet the rest of the seven and Nico on the other side of the Doors, and makes him promise to lead the others to the mortal side. Nico promises and Percy lets go, allowing the dark gravity of Tartarus to pull him and Annabeth in. During a meeting on the Argo II, Nico admits that Percy is the most powerful demigod he has ever met and with Annabeth there with him, they will survive. He believes that if anyone could make it through Tartarus, it would be them. He assures Leo that both Percy and Annabeth are still alive. At dinner, Nico sat with Will, Apollo, Austin, and Kayla. Apollo thought Will and Nico were so cute together it looked desolate, reminding him of his old relationship with Hyacinthus. Nico explained to Apollo that he had a doctor's note to sit with Will at dinner and that Will was his doctor. Nico also told Apollo the whereabouts of the Seven and Gleeson Hedge. When Apollo asked about Leo, Nico said that if he saw him again, he'd kill him. Nico showed Apollo the scroll Leo sent and said he looked at it whenever he got angry, and how he hated being left in the dark because he didn’t know if he was safe or planning anything.

Although it is never stated how many generations Octavian is from Apollo, his family has been at Camp Jupiter for over a century, so he is at least fourth-generation. Rachel Elizabeth Dare mentions him when she discovered that the Triumvirate Holdings were the ones who supplied Octavian with those siege weapons, Apollo recalls that he dealt with the last triumvirate that included his son, the original Octavian.

December 21, 2007 - Zoë Nightshade dies from the poison of Ladon and the blow from her father Atlas while fighting him on Mount Orthys, the Titan base. A dozen more ghosts turned towards him. Some scowled and gripped the hilts of their glowing purple swords. Too late, Jason wondered if Iros was an enemy of theirs, but he’d already committed to the part. Frank Zhang leads a legion of Roman spirits to victory against Gaea's forces in the House of Hades. Eventually, the Seven reach Athens, and are led to the Acropolis by Kekrops, the ancient half-snake king of Athens, who promptly turns on them, betraying them to the Giants, and they find themselves battling for their lives. While in combat, Annabeth gets a cut on her leg and her blood spills. Percy's nose is bloodied by being batted by Thoon and eventually a drop of his blood rolls down his chin in the midst of battle and spills onto the ground as well, thereby waking Gaea, who appears at Camp Half-Blood, intending to destroy it.

Chiron and Percy discuss the Great Prophecy and the struggle against Kronos. Percy learns of the relationship between the Titan Lord and the centaur. Nico didn't sleep much that night, since the next morning he had red eyes and a chalky face. Before he left, Percy said his goodbyes to Nico, saying he could come with them. Nico said he needed time to think and wouldn't meet Percy's eyes, still a little angry at him. Annabeth put her hand on his shoulder and tried to comfort him, but he walked away. Percy and his friends were worried for him but Eurytion reassured them that he would be alright. Octavian is obsessed with the Sibylline Books and, potentially, with the idea of controlling the future as he states, "We will rule the future" in The Blood of Olympus. During the Troubles in Belfast, Mallory Keen dies trying to disarm a car bomb that she set, and is taken to be one of Odin's chosen warriors in Valhalla. One of the greatest highlights of Blood of Olympus was finally getting chapters in Nico’s perspective. He’s been an integral character for so long, and yet he’s remained as mysterious as ever. It was exciting to see these events in Nico’s point of view, and experience him struggling with the secret revealed in the last book and coming to terms with what that means for his relationships going forward.

What did you think of ‘Blood of Olympus’?

Leo Valdez realizes, from clips of Camp Half-Blood on the ship, that it is the day after Independence Day. Nico, apparently, also has tremendous, virtually indomitable willpower, since he was able to survive in Tartarus on his own while seeing the place in all of its ineffable horrors for the entire time that he spent there. Percy, who found even a few moments of seeing it maddening, marveled how Nico had managed to survive with his sanity. At some point during his horrifying journey through Tartarus, Nico encounters the goddess of misery Akhlys. She was impressed at how much sorrow and pain the son of Hades carried, claiming that there was little more that she could do to him. When Reyna shares her strength with Nico in The Blood of Olympus, she is horrified at how much pain and raw anguish she felt inside Nico. Even a portion of his pain is greater than the pain she had felt from her entire legion, when they fought against the giant Polybotes. When Reyna accidentally learns about Nico's homosexuality, she, much to Nico's surprise and relief, doesn't judge him. She still accepts him as a friend, just as he is, without hesitation. Reyna's acceptance likely gave Nico the courage to come out to a very surprised Percy and Annabeth. He admits to being past his strong crush on Percy and is now genuinely happy for Percy and Annabeth. Hence, Nico is finally willing to become more sociable and more open about himself and his feelings to others. He is no longer nearly so insecure about his homosexuality, and he is completely open about it six months later in The Hidden Oracle. Nico di Angelo had warned them: the House of Hades would stir their worst memories, make them see things and hear things from the past. Their ghosts would become restless. December 16, 2007 - Following a traditional Capture the Flag match with the Hunters of Artemis, Percy, and Thalia have a confrontation. They are interrupted by the Oracle of Delphi, who gives Zoe Nightshade her prophecy.
