Beckett-King's other creative stuff but judging by the reaction of my grand-children ( the age group for which it is intended ) it is a very successful piece of writing. His videos on youtube are hilarious, his podcast Loremen is one of my favorites, and when I saw he had written a book, I couldn't wait to check it out!Granda Banks, of course, makes a wonderful third part of this duo, ready to help out or cover for Bonnie or give her the sage advice she needs. I didn't realise until I was writing this review that the author is the guy I've seen on Mock the Week!
Wit and humour abound, there’s a plethora of puns, and at the same time, intrigue and high drama […] All this accompanied by Claire Powell’s delightful illustrations which help elucidate some of the clues. Bonnie and Grandpa Banks are visiting the Hornville Museum – the oldest building in Widdlington – when there’s a dreadful scream and they are plunged into darkness. Will Bonnie be able to keep her identity a secret or will Widdlington’s most dasterdly villains discover what she’s hiding?As Montgomery Bonbon- complete with beret, moustache, dubious European accent- she’s solved a wealth of crimes with Banks, her sidekick.
