About this deal

Following the conservation work, financed by a public appeal launched by the Fondation Napoléon, of Napoleon’s Chasseur Colonel uniform worn on St Helena and the bicorne hat he wore at Waterloo, these two historic garments will be presented to the public at the Museums of Sens on Thursday 18 May at 17h.

The information is very good and it has great paintings, tables, equipment and accurate uniforms from the time period. The book's main focus is the soldiers who fought the historic battles of the day, and the uniforms they wore. A faithful copy of the Regimental Pelisse made in best dark blue military grade wool with black russia lace and black wool covered bosses. The uniform of the Foot artillery gunners of the line was made of a blue coat, red cuffs, red lapels, blue piped red cuff flaps, red épaulettes and brass buttons. Their brass buttons were gilt, they had epaulettes according to their rank, and, on duty, they had a gilt gorget with a silver badge, generally a crowned eagle.

It includes full-page colour illustrations of the Household Cavalry, the Heavy Cavalry (Dragoon Guards and Dragoons), and Light Cavalry (the Light Dragoons and Hussars).

Made from rifle green wool with black facings and finished with 1/2" pewter buttons, fully lined in black cotton.

Highly recommended for all serious students of the Napoleonic army and of military art and costume during the period, 1798-1814.

In 1803 all eight of the dragoon regiments raised in Spain were converted to light cavalry, with the first six converted to Cazadores a Caballo while Numancia and Lusitania were converted to Hussars (See these sections for Uniform during this time period). This garment was extensively adorned with braiding (often gold or silver for officers) and several rows of multiple buttons. Besides its obvious usages as a photo reference for painting Napoleonic miniatures, it gives great color scheme inspiration for use in other eras as well. Although the plates of uniforms are more like good drawings rather than one or two pictures on a page, they are designed with the writing around them. The most notable difference was the headgear : Grenadiers of the Guard wore a tall bearskin cap with a brass plate stamped with the Imperial eagle, with white cords and red plume, and a red patch with a golden grenade on the top of the bearskin.Waist Size refers to your largest stomach circumference, as our trousers are high waisted, and not worn as low as modern trousers. On active service the hussar normally wore reinforced breeches which had leather on the inside of the leg to prevent them from wearing due to the extensive riding in the saddle. This is the Waterloo period Coattee for the 60th Rifles, this one was made for The Royal Greenjackets Regimental Museum but we also make many of these for re-enactors and collectors all over the world.
