About this deal

Hidden in Plain Sight follows on from Nothing Ventured and continues with Turn a Blind Eye, but can be read as a standalone story. I think you’ll find he’s just as impressive on dry land,’ said the commander, after the applause had died down. ‘He’s already served for three years with the Regional Crime Squad in Crawley. However, there’s something else I ought to mention before—’ Although the story continues from Book One, there is enough detail to read this as a stand-alone but I really enjoyed learning more about the original cast and many new ones too.

Hope you’re all well. It’s a pretty miserable day today; wet and grey but that does mean that Autumn is finally on it’s way. I feel like we’ve been teased with it for a while now and I just want it to arrive. I am so looking forward to sitting in front of the fire with a book. Was mir an dem Band super gefallen hat, war die Ungewissheit, ob der Fall gelöst werden kann und was auf einen zu kommt.

As far as the plot about the two on going cases the action was well paced and in court sir Julian and his daughter Grace gave a stellar performance!

And that’s not all,’ said William, who then told the team about his conversation with Miles Faulkner at the Fitzmolean soon after the unveiling of the Rubens painting, Christ’s Descent from the Cross. No, sir. I’ve no idea what she wants. But she makes no secret of the fact that she’s just as keen as we are to see her husband behind bars. So, I don’t imagine she’s suggesting tea at the Ritz simply to sample their clotted cream scones.’ I was not as fond of this one as other reviewers were. I found the writing to be choppy and abrupt. You would be reading one section and all of a sudden, with no warning, you were in another scene of action. I didn't like it and it wasn't smooth. The bookend on some very steep cliffhanger and makes this series even more interesting. I’m waiting eagerly for the 3rd part, ‘Turn a Blind Eye‘ which will be releasing of April 1st 2021. And I think I can guess why is the title of 3rd book in the series so. You too can find out why by reading ‘Hidden in Plain Sight‘. I have long been a fan of most anything that Jeffrey Archer puts to paper, having amassed a large quantity of high quality novels. This new series, which is actually the collection of writing referenced repeatedly throughout the Clifton Chronicles, may be set in the 1980s, but can easily hold the attention of the dedicated thriller fan.

The plot seems interesting, right? Well, the book is not interesting at all. The book was made extremely boring because of the long conversations made by each character in each chapter. The writing was simple and not at all suspenseful. The only good thing about this book was that I could somehow keep on reading it. It wasn't gripping or anything, the story was a bit good so I thought of continuing it. As the team start to close in on the huge drug operation that is run by Ahmed Rashidi, they only have one option for how they can secure his arrest. It’s a risky plan as it truly involves being hidden in plain sight. Will William and the team come out successful? Book Genre: British Literature, European Literature, Fiction, Historical, Historical Fiction, Mystery, Mystery Thriller, Suspense, Thriller We are still treated to updates on William’s personal life and it was lovely to see his relationship with Beth grow and to follow them on the next steps in their lives. I really liked the way that Jeffrey Archer mixed the personal struggles with the professional ones. It worked particularly well in this book and made me feel a closer connection to the story and the characters. The man the investigation focuses on, who runs this drug trade, is known only as the Viper and he’s particularly careful when it comes to his movements. Infiltrating the Viper’s nest is going to be an all-consuming and difficult job.

Rather you than me,’ said Lamont with a sigh. ‘However,’ continued the commander, ‘the commissioner, in his wisdom, felt a winning team shouldn’t be broken up, so you two will be joining him as part of an elite drugs unit on the first of the month.’ I've read many books by this author and he truly is a solid 4 stars for me...sometimes higher. I enjoy his story telling. I could listen to the audios all day. He brings his characters to life with great details. So much so, they feel like family. I will say though that the MCs tend to be a little on the perfect side, but it works. Usually that kind of things bugs me, but not here. I really appreciate the author’s way of engaging the reader in the story, in a sense that these characters start feeling like family/friends and we want everything to go good for them. There is a wedding scene that was supposed to be very dramatic but the level of politeness was too high to have caused any effect and it was quite silly with mediocre dialogues.

These SIO meetings are held every Monday morning, DC Adaja,’ said the commander, ‘to bring us all up to date on how any major investigations are progressing.’ Although the characters are lovable there is one, the great Sir Julian, that shows some racism and even prejudice against women. Worse than that, I’m afraid. They didn’t even turn up, and neither did the shipment of diamonds. I spent an evening with twenty of my men armed to the teeth, staring out to sea. So do tell me the good news, sir.’

I loved that the team got to stay together even though they moved departments. I definitely felt that their bonds had grown the longer that they had worked together, including the odd bit of banter between them which made me smile. There’s still more I’d like to know about some members of the team and there was definitely a teaser at the end of the book that leads me to believe that I will get that from the third book. The other case involves a very clever dealer who takes all the resources of the squad to investigate. The man is very intelligent and the squad has to take really complex steps to try and catch this clever man. Jeffrey Archer is an amazing storyteller and is currently in my “top” authors - this means, authors I wanna read everything!
