About this deal

Works with the ShurePlus MOTIV Desktop App, providing simple audio processing (save custom user presets; tweak audio tone using switchable EQ filters; automatically alter compression and gain with Auto-Level mode). This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: Connect the equipment to an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.

Auto Level Mode / Manual Mode AUTO LEVEL mode allows the app to select best choices for your recording needs. Or select MANUAL mode for full control over the microphone settings. The SM7B has gained legendary status among producers, recording engineers and podcasters alike. Many will accept nothing else, but should they (and streamers) consider the new MV7 microphone instead? Used for professional broadcasting and studio recording for decades, the SM7B has found renewed popularity with podcasters and online streamers. Nonetheless, the mic has remained out of reach for some people daunted by the advanced setup required to get that sweet sound it’s so famous for. USB or XLR? The MV7 has both

Whenever you use the MV7, your voice will remain front and centre at all times. Shure know just how important a clear and intelligible vocal is (they are one of the biggest names in the microphone world for a reason), so a highly directional dynamic design and voice isolation tech have both been incorporated. This intuitive engineering works to highlight your voice, no matter what kind of environment you might be working in. This results in consistent audio across each and every word.

Mic Mute / Mic Gain Use the toggle to mute and unmute your microphone. Use the slider to control microphone gain. Limiter and Compressor settings Fine tune your audio with limiter and compressor controls. See "Advanced Mic Settings" for more information. See the MV7 Yoke Assembly topic for step by step instructions for re-assembling your yoke and assorted washers. Correct washer assembly is crucial to ensure that your microphone is securely in place. You can even use a lightning cable (bought separately) to use the mic with an iPad or iPhone - allowing for some high-quality content creation while you're on-the-move! Additional Uses The USB Type-B Micro/XLR connection will be the big draw for a lot of folks. It gives you the best of both worlds by providing the adaptability of XLR (especially if you use professional audio interfaces) and the versatility of Type-B Micro inputs for recording on the go with laptops and mobile devices.

Ideal when the sound source is further from the microphone, like in gaming when the person needs to be closer to the screen or gaming console. Aim the microphone directly at the sound source. Place the microphone 6 to 18 inches (15 to 45 cm) away from the sound source. Make additional gain adjustments if necessary. Individual adjustments via the ShurePlus motif desktop app possible (e.g., amplification, compression and EQ presets) Another great feature is the MV7’s Auto Level Mode, which allows users connecting via USB to have the microphone adjust the level of your voice on the fly to ensure a consistent output of your recording or stream. This will save valuable editing time in post-production and keep the volume consistent throughout – it’s like having a virtual engineer by your side! Thanks to a dual XLR and USB output, the MV7 will slot seamlessly into your current tech configuration. The supported USB-C/USB-A output for PC and Mac is extremely useful, while a pro XLR output can be used to connect to mixers, interfaces and any other audio gear you might have to hand.In seemingly a first for an online review of the Shure mics MV7, we’ve made it past the first paragraph without mentioning its most obvious reference point. The Shure SM7B is a natural place to offer comparison; both are from one of the world’s most respected mic brand and both deliver exceptional speech performance. The key difference, however, lies in the lower-cost MV7’s ability to work directly with your computer without need for a separate mixer or audio interface. How important exactly is this? Let’s take a look in more detail in this Shure MV7 review. Your microphone and computer have a sample rate mismatch. To adjust your computer sample rate settings, go to the Shure FAQ topic for information on correcting sample rate mismatch.

Needed it for sampling, synth input, and work (Zoom/Teams). Plugs into synth and laptop and can be used for both without needing to mess with cables. Solid quality equipment. The MV7 takes advantage of the ShurePlus Motiv software, which lets you tweak and fine-tune your sound with relative ease. From here, you can mess with things like adding compression to your voice, adjust your EQ, and add a limiter. One of the more understated features is the Auto Level Mode. We've seen similar features in other mics, such as the Elgato Wave 3, which basically keeps you from hitting the red. That's especially useful if your content involves lots of shouting or singing or both. So now you don't have to worry about bursting your viewers' eardrums when a jump scare gets the better of you in Phasmophobia. Also, nice if you're a bit of an audio novice, and your recording area isn't acoustic-friendly. Anyone seriously considering an SM7B will know that you’ll need a fairly beefy mic preamp offering at least 60 decibels of clean gain to get the sound the pros so love. The MV7 is therefore a more affordable solution for those looking to upgrade their setup without breaking the bank. The fact that the mic will “grow” with you when you’re ready to buy a quality interface is just the icing on the cake! It takes just minutes to get au fait with the SM7B's feature set, perhaps less. You'll find two windshields in the box, a standard tapered design for most voice and instrument applications and a slightly more bulbous A7WS version for broadcast. Shure claims that the A7WS offers more protection from plosive breath noise but in our experience we rarely see anyone use it. More commonly, artists will remove the windshield completely to improve the SM7B's top-end response.
