About this deal
Oh, and no, it doesn’t smell like Bottega Veneta to me, Alaia is much more aloof and minimalist, more musky, less leather.
Super sad because I wore this religiously and it is seriously one of my all time favourite perfumes. Fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa enters the world of perfumes under the license of Beaute Prestige International and launches his first fragrance Alaïa. It’s something that I’d wear if I want to give off an impression of being aloof, no-nonsense, abit detached from the masses and hard to get, I’m sure we all have days like that.Violet has a rather melancholic vibe in erfumes on my skin despite of I absolutely adore its sscent in nature but never really wear it as a perfume because it has this subtle depressing effect on me.
I can imagine a wealthy intellect who dresses ultra-minimalist, mostly in black ofcourse, wearing this…like Steve Jobs, or better yet, a female version of Steve Jobs (remember Elizabeth Holmes? After reading reviews from Luca Turin and Bois de Jasmin whilst wearing Alaïa alot, it dawned upon me what makes this so personal and familiar to me. Would still like to try on my skin though, as this review is based on the notes developing on my little card. Luca Turin mentions this scent does that rare alchemy of starting at the base notes and progressively elevating to top notes as it lingers on skin. At first spray I definitely get the pink pepper and airy notes, which read to me as very crisp, almost vegetal (cucumber? It was affordable and I thought why not as I love black pepper and I haven’t had a leathery fragrance like this before. A lot of reviews online mention a light and fruity opening, but that is not my experience, and I have tested with a tiny spritz a few times.
