PS: I acquired the DT 990 Premium and Schiit Valhalla used from a local friend two weeks after my DT 880's came. It's a more "Sennheiserized" sound signature than the DT770/990, which I found to be more aggressive (V-shaped). So, for everything besides very bass-heavy music (and here we have enough alternatives) this headphones are great.

They are a well rounded headphone good for someone who can't quite figure out what kind of music they like best. Another downside I observe here is, wiring for opposite driver is embedded on upper end of headband, like an overhead cabling. The pro's clamp harder than the premium line DT880's due to the intended use in studios where a lot of movement is expected, but i find the strong clamp to be reassuring. While I thought the build quality was good and the comfort very good (clamping force is generally a non-issue for me, in fact lack thereof is more of one) the sound quality was meh.Classical music and movies are recorded at lower average levels because they get very loud as well as soft, so playback level settings need to be higher for accurate reproduction — and allow much higher peak reproduced sound levels.
