About this deal

Which is another point worth mentioning: You do not need to know anything about football to enjoy this game. You’re not spending money to boost player strength, you’re acquiring a new training facility and enacting a fresh strength regimen. It just, IMHO, increases the value of an offensive player – and players will have to adjust their actions accordingly. Positioning your players in just the right spots so that you can score goals while defending against anything written in the scouting report is the key to victory. What’s more, the expansion contains extra cards for various decks, amending another issue I had; card variety.

The idea of a sport in board game form has never really appealed to me, especially something as prone to chaos, and not stat-driven as football (or soccer, if you’re across the Atlantic). Some staff cards offer the ability to get more tactics cards, but if those cards don’t come out, it can be quite difficult to play an appropriate formation against another team, and you may not have the advantage of being able to play a second tactics card for its unique power. I’ve spent far too much time trying to find my “perfect” soccer match simulation game; and to date, I haven’t found it. Before we go much further, I should probably let you know that Eleven is a Euro game, through and through. In the box you will find as many as 12 player boards – 4 Match Boards, 4 Stadium Boards and 4 Club Boards .There is no interaction between participants beyond taking turns drafting players and trainers from a public market.

After setting your players up on the pitch, you flip the opponent’s card and then compare zones of opposing players to determine if goals are scored or not. I think the base game has plenty, but I do think there’s room for adding different modules to your stadium, different events, and different staff card abilities to keep play fresh. It created a rumble in online communities and united a wide group of enthusiasts who hoped to bear witness to tabletop’s first mainstream hobbyist soccer title. You are probably not going 6-0 in your first few seasons, and “cakewalk” is not a word you’ll use while playing.I had to read this rulebook four times to gather everything that needs to be done and the edge rules around the matches. There’s no harking back to the granddaddy of football games – Subbuteo – even though I was a huge fan of the flicking football fun when I was around 14 years old. Dale, 1 game against the first solo scenario), I am ecstatic that I backed the game with all the goodies (I think the improved components will fix Dale’s issue with the icons). Eleven — the number of players you have on the pitch at any given time, with those players making all the difference between being the best team and the worst. Right at the start of each round (Monday, in the game’s parlance), you draw a board meeting card and then roll a die.
