such an incredible lens and pack it into a modern design that could perform up to the standards of the newer X-series bodies? Bokeh balls aren’t perfectly round across the entire frame, but otherwise the quality is quite good, particularly in the background. First, let’s set the ground rules, this lens is not exactly new, and it’s not the only 35mm option for Fujifilm cameras, there are a lot of videos out there, reviews and options as well. There is both an aperture ring and focus ring but no depth of field scale, so street photographers, take note. Of course there are no fringes at all when things are perfectly in focus; spherochromatism is what happens to things that are out of focus. In Dutch we say ‘lekker’, meaning something like: good, fine, joyfull, something that closes your eyes a bit, brings out a smile, gut feeling (food, sex, a walk on the beach, the perfect fitting pair of jeans – lekker. I’ve tried to do some hip shots and it’s a bit difficult at first but once you get used to it you can start making some nice images. You can see the foreground bokeh gives you a much different character than the background, this also seems to produce more of the Petzval Effect.

R, which was part of the first batch of three lenses released with the Fujifilm X-Pro1 in early 2012. The 9 blade rounded aperture makes a really smooth and creamy bokeh, but the blades are only rounded when wide open and it seems the foreground bokeh still has a little shape when wide open. For now only have the 18-55 and an X-E2, do you think the F2 will still be a better option for this camera? Thank you for the great review, i just wondering if you have tried it to make a video using this 35mm f/2 lens. It’s not uncommon for lenses to have some barrel or pincushion distortion, so I wouldn’t get too worked up over this, but it’s good to know what to expect. I always felt the lens was too expensive for what it was, so it’s really nice to see Fujifilm release a more affordable version. The Fuji Views blog contains thoughts and opinions on Fujifilm, the compact mirrorless camera market, and photography in general. The XF 35mm F2 R WR has 9 lens elements in 6 groups (including two aspherical elements) and achieves the perfect balance of high image quality, compact size and autofocus speed as fast as 0. in length with a diameter of 60mm, the slim stylish design allows comfortable operation and draws minimum attention to the photographer, making it the perfect lens for portrait, street or reportage photography.

I just wanted to finally say thank you for your insight and beautiful examples of the Medium of picture making. Perhaps we’re using different bodies (XT1 in my case), but I certainly don’t find the XF23 to be an AF speed demon. The “FUJINON XF 35mm F2 R WR” offers a focal length equivalent to 53mm*1 with the angle of view similar to that of the human eye and a maximum aperture of F2. It’s fairly sharp in the center and also has very smooth bokeh at f2 but the edges and corners do get a little soft compared to the center. In the beginning i wanted to sell it, but then i had a series of family photos, which absolutely surprised me in a positive way. Finally, I love this lens so much because I can shoot almost anything with it, bar the type of photography that requires a telephoto lens.
