He provides oversight to all of the daily tasks, including editorial, administrative, and advertising work. EDUCATION: Chris graduated Magna Cum Laude from Adelphi University with a degree in Communications in Journalism in 2009. In the day you’re dealing mostly with sunlight and reflected light, and the blooming effect of the Glimmer Glass has a really nice quality filling the frame with a misty effect that really takes some of the hard edges off of the lighting giving it an almost filmmick look. This makes the lower end of the glimmer glass diffusion line produce a non-destructive or invasive look. If you are unable to reach us by phone or it is outside of business hours, please submit a support ticket at https://tiffen.Good for all around subjects like portraits where you don’t want a too extreme look, but still want to soften those strong highlights. This is a process in which the filter substrate is laminated between 2 pieces of optical glass and ground flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.

Primarily, they add diffusion, though not with the same effect as Tiffen’s Pro Mist Black filters or Pro Mist filters (the latter adds diffusion and halation through the smoothness of the filter). However, if you’re in an environment where the filter can catch a lot of glare, it will give you more reflections that can get really distracting, so you may want to consider other options in these conditions. Of course, there are exceptions, but I believe both sides of the camp would be intrigued by Tiffen Glimmer Glass. The Glimmer Glass filter is a little different than all the other diffusion filters I’ve used so far as mentioned earlier. Moment Cinebloom 10% is the most extreme filter, it gives the most bloom and the removes the most contrast from hightlights and shadows.

As I stare at these images, I notice little details that my camera wouldn’t have picked up unless I had brought my Profoto lights with me. Tiffen Black Pro-Mist 1/4 is in the middle when it comes to bloom effect and pulling down highlight/shadow contrast. The Glimmerglass series of filters also has a benefit of sparkling when viewed, which can add reassurance to your talent when shooting beauty; that way you can fully concentrate on the look of your shot. Granted, it’s raining in a lot of these shots so there is that added depth by default, but also look at the samples that have no rain. I still think they add something by smoothing the highlights from the building, and raising the dark shadows.

The Black Pro Mist filter works better in daylight than the Glimmer Glass works at night, so if you only wanted one filter, I would probably go with the Black Pro Mist. The Black Pro-Mist filter and other black mist filters have what look like little black particles in them. We are an approved supplier to major broadcasters including BBC and ITV and both our sales and service departments are accredited by key manufactures. To give a quick overview, I prefer the Glimmer Glass filters with daylight photography, and I prefer the Black Pro-Mist filters at night. Instead, Glimmer Glass is about getting a look in-camera without extra editing beyond a white balance shift, exposure adjustment, or a film simulation change. The photos shot with my Tiffen Glimmer Glass attached to my X Pro 3 are genuinely some of my favorites that I’ve ever shot with Fuji cameras. When viewed from the subject's perspective, the filter appears to be sparkling and helps instill confidence in models, resulting in a potentially better performance. A new type of diffusion filter, the Glimmerglass subtly softens fine details in a unique manner, while adding a mild glow to highlights.

Black Glimmerglass Filters offer all of the benefits of the original Glimmerglass filters, as well as subtly removing harsh sharpness from modern lenses. Also, I have a new workflow that scales the images a little nicer for the blog than what I was using on my Mac.The Glimmer Glass is one of the many types of diffusion filters made by Tiffen that produces one of many different types of Diffusion effects. Notice how the direct light affects diffusion filters a lot, especially Cinebloom that completely spreads out the highlights over a big area. I generality would recommend Glimmer Glass for daylight and controlled lighting conditions, like a home studio YouTube for a nice natural diffusion with depth.
