About this deal

The lyrics from Fish are more playful on tracks like "Garden Party" than on later albums, and his extremly wordy anecdotes telling the story of "The Web" are the most florid and grandiose Marillion ever got!

A new 180g heavy weight vinyl edition featuring a gatefold sleeve and the original artwork was released in 2012. It was the penultimate release of Fish era Marillion albums in a recent deluxe reissue campaign that also includes Misplaced Childhood, Clutching at Straws, Brave, and Afraid of Sunlight. As stated in the original liner notes, the music from the album was composed, arranged and performed by Marillion and the lyrics were written by Fish alone. There really isn't a bad moment as the warm, yet sparse, weave of the songs carries the early, mannered Vocals of Fish through his first Loves and Life experiences. The album reached number seven and spent 31 weeks in the UK Albums Chart, eventually achieving a platinum certificate, and produced the Top 40 single " He Knows You Know" and the Top 20 single " Garden Party".Elsewhere, loss of another kind is explored in "Chelsea Monday"; Fish commendably vents his spleen at the establishment in "Forgotten Sons"--a crowd-stopping finale to Marillion's live show in those days--and pokes wordy fun at the toffs in the band's first and most unlikely hit, "Garden Party". Mi piacciono i Marillion con Fish, non sono un vecchietto, ma uno che è appassionato di genesis, yes pink floyd, led Zeppelin e tutta la musica Rock anni 67 70 80.

The second single, " Garden Party", was released on 6 June 1983 and became even more popular, peaking at number 16. Script for a Jester's Tear is the only studio album by Marillion to feature the band's original drummer and founding member Mick Pointer, who was dismissed following the album's UK tour. Script for a Jester's Tear was released in the United Kingdom on 13 March 1983 by EMI on vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve. The remastered version was also issued without the second disc in 2000 and contained a pared-down booklet. The cover artwork was designed by Mark Wilkinson, who would be commissioned to the role on all Marillion releases through The Thieving Magpie (1988). John Franck has given the album a retrospective rating of four-and-a-half stars out of five on AllMusic. Beautifully crafted debut album from one of the leading lights of the (relatively) short-lived progressive rock revival of the 1980s.

As part of a series of Marillion eight studio albums made on a contract with EMI, the album was 24-bit digitally remastered between April and July 1997 and expanded with a second disc containing bonus tracks, including all tracks from the debut single. Allerdings muss man sagen, dass man "Script for a jester's tear" nicht einfach "nebenbei" hören kann.It was awarded a platinum certification by British Phonographic Industry on 5 December 1997 for over 300,000 copies sold. Um ehrlich zu sein: Mir hat auch die Klangqualität der ersten Pressung gut gefallen, aber jetzt klingt alles noch etwas brillanter und differenzierter.

This album features some of early Marillion's finest moments: every track is a stand out with my particular favourite being the haunting "Chelsea Monday" which has very strong contrasting light and shade through superlative musicianship. The drummer puts in a good performance, just markedly different to later albums which helps define this early, fragile sound. Considering the band at this time was labelled Prog Rock, there was none of the over-the-top improvisation that the genre is normally given. EMI took advantage of the opportunity and persuaded the group to replace him with Nick Tauber, a producer known for his work with new wave band Toyah and regarded by the record label as more modern.

One of my favourite albums the genius of Fishes lyrics and the guitarist Steve Rothery talent combined to make some fantastic songs. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The band's 3rd album 'Misplaced Childhood' is, possibly, the most easily accessible of Marillion's early releases and is certainly worth checking out as well. It was produced by David Hitchcock, who was also contracted to work on the group's first full-length album. Wenn man ein und dieselbe CD zwei mal hat, spricht das ziemlich eindeutig dafür, dass diese Musik gefällt.
