We may use this information to make you recommendations about offers or content that we believe you will find interesting. Having read some of Robinson's previous works, I have to say that this is her greatest novel to date. Stepmom’s parents came to our house for Christmas and while they were mostly nice people, they kept telling their daughter how proud they were of her for “stepping up and being a mother to these children”.

Emma enjoys writing stories which explore the power of family and friendship in the most challenging circumstances. All of the scenes were perfectly described and It was easy to feel as if you were right there in the middle of all of it. It completely blew my mind and I have not been able to stop thinking about it since I finished reading it ! It completely blew my mind and I have not been able to stop thinking about it since I finished reading it! I want to say most authors make the characters take the highroad and although Emma Robertson definitely did that for the most part I loved the whole scene with Jessica and thought that was a nice touch because sometimes we just need to get things off our chest and what a great way to do that I was so much rooting for Gabby loved her and love this book.

I got so mad because she clearly was trying to make it seem like we have a better relationship than what actually exists. It's her house but is lived in by her stepmother Jill - the uncaring and boring woman her father married after her wonderful loving mother died in a car accident.regardless of whether I liked, loved or hated them they all worked together perfectly to make yet another exceptional read by the amazing Emma! A wonderfully told tale of what it means to be a parent… I loved everything about this book and the ending had me in tears! I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. The lessons learned in the book are powerful and meaningful, leaving the readers with a lot to ponder over.

It is an absolutely beautiful story of love, loss, parenting, forgiveness, friendship, secrets and family! When Gabbie finds out that her husband has been keeping secrets that affect her and their two daughters, she packs up her car and heads to the only place she can go - the house she grew up in. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It's her house but is lived in by her step-mother Jill - the uncaring and boring woman her father married after her wonderful loving mother died in a car accident. I cannot even begin to imagine how poor Gabbie kept herself going, I will go into the characters later on.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Bookouture for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. So… this is not what I excepted from the cover of this book, I loved the style of writing, the realism of it all, how the book gives a bigger insight to bulling and addictions and also the fact that as children we don’t see the bigger picture and it isn’t until we are older that we fully understand the love and care that not only our parents have for us but also what any caregiver has for the children. Another thing I love about ALL Emma's books is the resolutions, she is a master at the realistic, unflowery but whooosh feel-good happy ending: The happy endings come naturally from all the previous confusion and despair, and it gives you such an uplift - even empowering feeling. However, not everything is as it seems, and secrets are about to be revealed which could change Gabbie's mind about everything. As a fan of women's fiction, I would highly recommend My Stepmother's Secret to anyone looking for a captivating and thought-provoking read. I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Nicholas Sparks, Kate Hewitt, Diane Chamberlain Jojo Moyes, Jodi Picoult, Colleen Hoover and just anyone looking for a beautiful read. Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue and first three chapters of Emma's absolutely stunning 'My Husband's Daughter' which is another emotional page turner and one I have read myself and would highly recommend!
