About this deal

I did find that broken lines were a little more challenging draw because the ink flowed so readily but again, this is something to get used to rather than a fault with the pen. We use a premium silver giftwrap paper with a subtle two-tone patterned effect, and a hand tied silver ribbon. We bring that to life here at Conscious Craft by offering you the best natural toys and craft materials we can find. I’d like to give it a try on a full-size A4 piece to see how taxing it might be over an extended period.

The only thing I don't like so much is that you can't place the cap atop the pen whilst using it - I will probably lose it at some point, but oh well. Have only ever cleaned it or flushed it when changing inks and then only with water, other than that it just gets to stay inked. I like both, the DP-1000AN has crisp lines but a slightly scratchy nib and the Rotring has wider lines but a very smooth nib.

I’ve noticed that when a fountain pen nib has a big round “ball” shape at the tip, the pen will be very smooth, but you won't have crisp line feeling when you drawing.

Again, I suspect this was to model the pen on dip pens or quills but that main body of the pen (the bit you hold) is a comfortable 10mm in diameter so it’s wide enough where it matters. Fast writing is not ideal with these nibs, not only because of ink flow but because it's hard to keep them properly aligned with the page. Having gone from the process of going to school, using any pen one can lay their hands on, pens in blister packs, cheap ballpoint pens and the one parker 25 that was saved slavishly for, as an adult, this came as a nice surprise. You can use the Platinum Carbon Ink, but do wash the pen occasionally especially if you're not using it for long periods of time. I had no problems with hatching (other than the already mentioned hook marks if I wasn’t careful) and the smooth flow of the ink made shading a joy.

If anyone has compared the platinum desk carbon Pen with the kdp 3000an and the Dp1000an, I will be very interested. The lines are clean and distinct, but smooth enough on the edges for even new users to be comfortable with. This is how the pen holder looks like on its own (the nib may be removed by unscrewing it from the top of the pen holder). The one thing I wonder about is the clip - why on earth does the thing even have a clip, I can't imagine where it can be useful with this size. As an artist, I like knowing that my pen can be disassembled for cleaning because I like using waterproof inks like Noodler’s Black and Platinum Carbon black in them. Lyra Art Pens contains high quality fibre tip art pens in a selection of brilliant, lightfast water-based colours. I would like to ask you wich one you would suggest to me, considering that I never worked with this kind of pen.
