About this deal

I was surprised when it turned out that one of the characters I thought was shady wasn't and it was someone I hadn't suspected at all.

This was an intriguing read, there was a few sub plots going on which could get a little confusing but it also meant there was a lot to be revealed and it all wrapped up rather well. I did finish the book and the storyline, which was quite interesting, came to end with the mystery concluded, however there is the ongoing case for the next book. You’re left starting this book thrust straight into action with Ben Harper saving a masked man from a burning building but this would open up a can of worms when a body is found cast into the foundation of a derelict building.

KARIN SLAUGHTERPRAISE FOR ROBERT GOLD'Superb' LISA JEWELL 'This is what every other thriller aspires to be' Reader Review'Utterly absorbing' SHARI LAPENA'Excellent' LEE CHILD'My new favourite author' Read Review'One of a kind' JAMES PATTERSON___________________Journalist Ben Harper is on his way home when he sees the flames in the churchyard. C’è talento, una trama imprevedibile, mistero, adrenalina, personaggi equilibrati e intelligenti, ritmo serrato e un numero imprecisato di colpi di scena. The town has a plethora of flawed characters, some more likeable than others, some more trustworthy than others. This follows Dani and her pursuit of the truth to her early days and why her dad was so motivated to find the drug dealers who always escaped his clutches.

A book designed to be read in one sitting because it is so easy to read and full of characters have you questioning motives and wanting the truth to be exposed. I grew up in Isleworth, living opposite the West Middlesex Hospital (a place that is mentioned in the story) and had relatives living in Twickenham. The ending had me heartbroken and crying but I really liked the ending and felt like it sets the scene nicely for the third book (which I need immediately! After the shocking events of Twelve Secrets, the first book in this series, where Ben’s family and devastating past were centre stage, he’s hoping to get stuck back into work and start producing a true crime podcast alongside his boss, online news site owner Madeline Wilson. I’ve not read the first book but kinda wish I had so I could understand the characters and how adversity had affected them. There are multiple storylines that weave through this book, and although they appear unrelated, Gold slowly but surely skilfully brings them together. Biography: Robert Gold is the Sunday Times bestselling author of the Ben Harper series, which includes Twelve Secrets, a Richard and Judy Book Club pick, Eleven Liars and Ten Seconds. We also get a good hard look at Dani’s marriage to DS Mat Moore which, since the first book, has felt a simmering recipe for disaster. I thought that the characters were well developed, some I liked, some I didn’t and I think its things like that which make the story more of a real read as I certainly don’t like everyone I meet in real like.
