About this deal

It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. She also uses the book to showcase her own talents as there is a downloadable album with tracks reflecting the chapter themes throughout the book, accessible by scanning the liberally spread QR codes. I know when I was growing up there weren’t many YA books that represented POC and different religious backgrounds, so I think the fact that YA fiction is more diverse these days is amazing, and so beneficial to so many children/teens/young adults. She is such a likeable mid teen with the usual hang ups about herself, learning how she fits in at school, with friends, at home, discovering the complications of being attracted to someone already spoken for, and slowly becoming more confident through drama. I loved the fresh and original voice of this coming of age debut, approaching big themes with a light touch.

It’s how she describes herself when introductions are required during Mrs Aachara’s first drama lesson with her Year 11 class. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Faber Members get access to live and online author events and receive regular e-newsletters with book previews, promotional offers, articles and quizzes.Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example. You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. It’s why so few people, other than Jess, know about her playlists, her humour, her creativity, and then the backing singers she imagines in so many different situations. This book is difficult to put down as you become connected to the main character and I found myself hoping for only good things to happen. Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do.

Warm, funny and hopeful, this story is about a girl struggling to like herself and growing to learn that she is enough. From Nobel Laureates Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter to theatre greats Tom Stoppard and Alan Bennett to rising stars Polly Stenham and Florian Zeller, Faber Drama presents the very best theatre has to offer. Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first.Love the characters dynamic although mostly were freaking overly dramatic and Ellie did frustrate me somehow when she goes judging her opinion and not trusting her friends when they said she was good (don't go being too toxic to yourself, kiddo).

This is a long book, which is the only reason I rated it down a little - the story did start to drag in a couple of places. Not only is it GCSE year, but it’s the year when the lie of drama lessons might be discovered by Ellie’s mother and father. There were so many times I was cringing but I think that’s just because I’m not the target audience. The music references totally did it for me and my music geek heart, and the main romance lowkey gave me butterflies because it was adorable and built on connecting through songs and it just made me happy. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot! However, it is through the challenges of teenage life that Ellie begins to find herself, making this an extremely relatable book for upper school students. Aber dann verliebt sie sich unverhofft in ihren neuen Mitschüler Ash, der allerdings schon mit ihrer besten Freundin zusammen zu sein scheint.

Seeing a Tamil character is always nice and I felt empathetic towards Ellie, especially in terms of feeling lost and just not knowing how to go about wanting to do what she wants whilst still trying to make her parents proud. The characterisation was brilliant, the characters felt so real that I didn't really want the book to end!Ross Welford introduces Time Travelling with a Tortoise, the sequel to Time Travelling with a Hamster, and a whole new time travel adventure!
