About this deal

I agree with the second half of this statement — I wouldn’t recommend adding in other expansions with this one — but not the first.

The stunning art Everdell is known for flows perfectly through into the Spirecrest board which sits neatly beneath the original. While they certainly can be annoying, rather than wreck your game the weather just encourages you to adapt your strategy or wait a season before doin certain actions. You reveal the 3 cards in a row left to right, but if you want the middle card, you’ll have to discard a card or a resource, and if you want the card on the right, you’ll have to discard 2 of any resource/card combination. Depending on which out of the three cards you choose, Rugwort will receive a set amount of point tokens. For an entirely different reason, I must express my gratitude for this little pack: the rat meeples are definitely in my top 3.Personally, I welcome the added nuance and depth that the Spirecrest expansion brings to the game table when playing Everdell solitarily. Having worked tirelessly to build the perfect woodland city, and having populated it with only the cutest, most charming inhabitants, the time has come for a new adventure.

But on the other hand, every time a new player comes to the table, the length of the game jumps inordinately. Instead of a mountain goat, two bears were put in ((((It's a shame to pay for the collector's edition of the game and find such a discord in the box.Spirecrest is an expansive and challenging new expansion, sure to surprise and delight even the most seasoned of Everdell players. This makes for a fun end-game scoring mechanism, and provides motivation to manage your resources/cards meticulously at the end of the game so you can score some major bonus points. While I don’t dislike the water world, I have to be in a different mood to play Pearlbrook because it is so very unique. In terms of actual content, the discrepancy between the retail versus collector’s edition proved a bitter pill to swallow and the added difficulty to the solo mode did not do Pearlbrook any favours. The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network.

With eight identical farms in the base game, I am smitten with the decision to diversify the farms so that they now both spark a tough decision and produce an I- knew-that-would-pay-off moment at the turn to Autumn. One key aspect of Spirecrest is the implementation of the weather cards, which I suspect may cause some difference of opinion in the board game community concerning whether said cards are a positive addition or not to the core game experience. Expanding the city capacity from 15 to 17 is an understated design decision that allows for greatness but still leaves players wanting to try again. The work of city building finished, with every uncertainty laid to rest, nothing remains but to enjoy the splendid scene and leave the critters to their new home in relative peace. If you’ve ever played Viticulture, it is similar to the Grande Worker or the Special Workers in Viticulture: Tuscany Essential Edition. Each of the three regions of the mountain board has an associated deck of cards, which represents the creatures and locations your Traveller will encounter over the course of their journey.
