About this deal

She just wants a quiet celebration: her daily swim in the sea and a cup of tea with granddaughter Elin and great-granddaughter Beca. Declan’s children, Killian and Sally resent Carol and with Power of Attorney put his house up for sale, leaving Carol to move back in with her comfortably off parents, Moira and Dave. It seems there are secrets in Declan’s past, strange rumours that were never confronted and suddenly the house they shared takes on a more sinister significance. and honesty, and I would have happily read a lot more about Carol and the community of this small Irish town.

The characters are engaging (even the nosy neighbour) and I loved the descriptions of the small town. In his gripping and darkly comic new novel Norton casts a light on the relationship between mothers and daughters, and truth and self-preservation with unnerving effect. The characters are also just as brilliant as they have been in his other novels, and feel very convincing.I like how Norton weaves these issues into his story, the humour not detracting from the serious nature of them. Bolting that on to an increasingly slapstick crime caper feels odd, though, particularly when the reason for the big secret is not something you’d readily make light of.

Forever Home audiobook narrated by the author, Graham Norton, is definitely a "Yes, please" and "Thank you very much" experience for me. With Carol being forced out of the home she has loved, she is traumatised by the sudden turn in her circumstances.I really enjoyed the narration by Graham Norton; his easy-going voice and character kept the level of this mystery at the cozy level, infused with humor, deprecation, love, dislike, and general snarkiness. Graham William Walker is an Irish actor, comedian, television presenter and columnist, known by his stage name Graham Norton.

Carol and Declan know their relationship is the talk of the town, but the gossip only serves to bring the couple closer. Has Joan left the stultifying atmosphere of Ballytoor for freedom across-the-water or is she shacked up somewhere in Dublin? So, Carol, must vacate the house and move in with her parents Moira, her judgmental mother and Dave, her quiet seemingly spacy father who only seems to do as he is told. His skill at gimlet-eyed observation and nuanced characterisation is *chef's kiss* but this book is SO FUNNY.

We do our best to select used books that are in fantastic condition, however there may be some defects on the cover or pages. Settling in with one of his novels is akin to sitting down with an enormous cup of tea at the end of a very long day. The main issue at hand within this novel is that of elder financial abuse, and Norton shows the chilling ease at which this can be accomplished with little to no intervention from authorities.
