About this deal

After playing a strong and interesting character in the last two films, she just sorta sits there as a passive and irrational plot device instead of someone with an arc.

They didn’t deliver a film that satisfied on its most base reason for existence – to be an entertaining slasher film, pure and simple. Four years ago, director David Gordon Green breathed new life into the most iconic horror franchise of all time. Starring: Jamie Lee Curtis , Andi Matichak , James Jude Courtney , Rohan Campbell , Will Patton , Jesse C. However buried deep within the deleted scenes is a single scene that hinted at what could and should have been – while one of the characters is being killed, the kids of Haddonfield are going gonzo, hinting at the transference of evil linked back to the herd mentality message of the previous film. This temporary final franchise entry comes home to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with an excellent Dolby Vision transfer, Atmos audio, and a smattering of bonus features. The forty-year journey of horror icon Laurie Strode and the original bogeyman Michael Myers ended in cinemas last autumn with a terrifying whimper instead of the bang fans everywhere wanted and demanded.

fehlenden Schrecken bemängeln, scheinen sich ebenso wenig auf das wirklich fragmentarische Gedankengut dieses Teils einlassen zu wollen. And expanding this into collective grief and paranoia, so rampant in today’s very divided world, felt more organic and a fascinating expansion of the franchise – we’d never really seen Haddonfield as a living, breathing town before and the added thrill of revisiting other characters from the ‘78 original was not just enticing but exciting for most fans. Cover Notes: ONLY ONE OF THEM WILL SURVIVE - Experience the epic end of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode's (Jamie Lee Curtis) long vendetta as Halloween, Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends bring the celebrated horror franchise to a close.Plus as you say Mark, I don’t get the transfer from MM as inhuman killing machine to a wounded animal - all it would have taken is a new scene showing him bleeding at the start of Ends to indicate that he wasn’t invulnerable and was having to deal with something new. The character of Corey is an excellent addition to the cast and Campbell delivers a dynamic performance – it’s just far too late to be introducing a character this important in the final chapter of the trilogy. With the promise of this mythical smackdown for the ages from the film’s creators ringing on our ears, the final showdown that has been four decades in the making ultimately proves to be the final nail in the film’s already very well shut coffin. And yet replacing Myers with a new kill buddy/substitute whilst neutering him almost completely was deemed an acceptable narrative for what was promised to be the epic finale to end all slasher films?

The commentary is intermittently interesting but, like the video extras, a little too self-aggrandising. As the dust settles on David Gordon Green’s franchise trilogy, is it time for a reappraisal of the possibly misunderstood and hugely divisive final entry? Carpenter should get back with his special effects crew from 1982 The Thing and make a Dead Space movie or something. For a movie meant to wrap up decades of confrontation between these two characters, the focus is placed largely on Allyson and newcomer Corey, creating an odd conclusion.Four years after the events of last year's Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson and is finishing writing her memoir. Depth: Depth of field is pretty impressive with good pushback and scale on display throughout the film. Halloween Ends is typical of most studio horror films shot in the 21 st century – shot digitally on Arri Alexa cameras, with the anamorphic process used to mimic the original look and feel of the original films, resulting in a 4K digital intermediate. David Gordon Green and Danny McBride’s final trip to Haddonfield brilliantly explores the trauma of a town coping with tragedy at the exact wrong time in a trilogy.
