The eyes let you know how the HatchiBaby is feeling (see below) and your child is able to nurture the egg while it hatches.

There is a sheet in the box to tell you which species is which, but we gave birth to a little Ponette. You may have noticed earlier that there was something on the back of the secret scroll that revealed your Hatchibabies gender. The Hatchimal’s eyes glow through the egg during the hatching process and it also makes lots of noises, which the children loved. Also beneath the Hatchibaby are the High Chair and the Surprise Accessories - you won't know which colours or varieties you will get.Plus there are two games; Bouncy Baby and Animal Colours where you play actual games with your HatchiBaby which is a really fun feature. Animal Colours can be played by touching and holding the left foot for 3 seconds and then when you see the colour that matches the animal sound tap it's forehead. Once out of packaging, the hatching process needs to be activated by turning and removing two twist locks from the bottom of the egg.

The hatching process is a lot of fun, and make this a little bit different from all the other interactive toys currently on the market. With two new species – Ponette and Cheetree – the fun is in finding out whether you have hatched a boy or a girl! We had a couple of issues with my boys not recognising eye colour (they are both colourblind), but it only bothered us a little and they can distinguish the colours when they aren't rushing. Animal colours (flashing green eyes) – touch and hold left foot, tap baby’s nose when you see the colour that goes with the animal sound.

The HatchiBaby already interacts with you and you can snuggle, tap, hug and pat the egg to keep it happy and the more you play with it, the more excited it becomes. Each accessory makes your Hatchibaby respond in different ways, so make sure you read the instructions to see how to use them (different species might have different accessories). The rattle and cuddle buddy have to be placed in a certain way and position to work, the tips and tricks sheet that comes with your HatchiBaby explains how to use all of the accessories correctly. The Hatchibaby broke through the egg and we could see it's eye within a minute or so - you can see this in our video. When using the 'Cuddle Buddy' and 'rattle' make sure the 'H' is facing you before placing to the HatchiBaby's chest.
