His son Gabe cannot accept the official verdict of suicide and enlists the help of the Burke Broussard Private Investigation Agency to discover the real cause of death. If you’re looking for a book full of murder, mayhem and some steamy romance, then I’d highly recommend this book to you! I used to read Karen Rose a lot because I liked her intricate and complicate plot, mystery, action, well-developed characters.

Rocky Herbet's son Gabe can't accept the fact his dad committed suicide, so he goes to his old partner, turned PI Burke Broussard, to investigate. Both Meredith and Adam are “damaged goods” (some of the previous Cincinnati books go more in-depth into it) and, somehow, they manage to have deep feelings for each other. I know I need to be one hundred percent present without distractions, giving my full attention to the story or risk missing some of the essential minute details and clues woven in that are classic Karen Rose. After completing her tours with the Marines in Iraq, Molly Sutton knew she could take down any bad guy she met.As clues were unearthed, I started putting the pieces together but never would have guessed some of the answers that were revealed in the end. The past comes back to haunt a high-profile defense attorney in the newest book in the Baltimore series. And now… Karen Rose is now living in Florida – with her husband Martin, with whom she lived for more than 20 years, two daughters, a dog and two cats – writing, dealing with gardening, practicing her great passion for cooking and spending time with the house pets. As they work together to figure out what really happened, other pieces are revealed turning the case upside down. There’s the gruff detective with a troubling past who holds onto her trauma as something that fuels her to do good, and then there’s the psychologist who could use a little proactiveness when it comes to deciding whether a client is actually dangerous.

The book, which comes out on Tuesday, centers on a tough female San Diego police homicide detective (Kit McKittrick) and an affable criminal psychologist (Sam Reeves) who have to reluctantly team up to get to the bottom of a cold case murder that just might be part of a serial pattern of local killings. Told from different PoVs including the bad guys,"Quarter to Midnight" is the first in a new "New Orleans" series and is a little wordy for my liking.

This one went well beyond “romance” and straight to the sheets with sufficient description to curl your hair—or depending on who you are—heat in other places. As a lifelong reader, it was inevitable that Sophia would discover book blogs and the joy of blog reviewing. The bodies start dropping and it's clear that Molly and Gabe need to solve the case and keep Xavier safe.

Unfortunately, he got too close and now Gabe is trying to connect the dots of his father’s investigation without dying or getting anyone else killed. Burke knows firsthand that the police department is a cesspool of corruption, especially among the brass, as are the political and judicial arena's in NOLA so he keeps the investigation under the radar, soliciting only those he trusts with his life to help. I loved the way the story was woven between these different events and had me trying to connect the dots along with the investigators. When I started to read Quarter to Midnight, it was quickly obvious that this mystery will have lots of characters to keep track of but also criminals who murder people to hide their shady deals. It was a big trauma in our lives and I wasn’t able to incorporate it into a book for 15 years after it happened,” Rose says. All of her books are romantic thriller and suspense, a genre that I enjoy reading when I want to pick up something lighter than the hardcore thrillers and crime mysteries I usually spend my time with. Berkley Publishing Group and Karen Rose provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley.

She’s a woman of action, and when she’s not solving crimes with the SDPD, she’s assisting her foster sister with her charter fishing business, scuba diving, or playing with her poodle. A former high school teacher of chemistry and physics, Karen lives in Florida with her husband of more than thirty years and her dog, Loki. But when her law enforcement agency in North Carolina turned against her, she joined up with her former CO Burke Broussard, who left New Orleans PD to set up a private investigative service for people who couldn't find justice elsewhere. The former special forces officer is heading to Europe, to go face to face with some of Putin's most killer henchmen! And of course there was the romance between Molly and Gabe that was a very fun way to break up some of the heavier and more suspenseful storylines. For example, some of the Karen Rose books are set in Minneapolis, others in Baltimore, and yet others in Atlanta, Cincinnati, St. Forget everything else once I hit that point near the end when the suspense explodes and I can’t leave off until there is a wrap up. After finishing Rose's latest adrenaline-filled thriller, I can hardly wait for the next installment. Sure, you can read them as you get them as well, but your enjoyment will not be as full, simply because some books nicely wrap up events that have taken place in previous books in the various location series (e.
