About this deal

as i wrote before, i love everything about the scent of this frag, i wont go into the bottle, packaging and anything of that sort because i deem it secondary to the scent, but i do think that these segments of the YSL are fine. The olfactory pleasure continues into the dry down with a nice fresh vetiver accord that is not overly "rooty" or earthy. I`ve totally fallen for this frag, didn`t really love it first off as I was a diehard fan of the original La Nuit EDT but now that just seems too sweet and cloying so it`s on the bench and EDP is at the wheel. From the onset, generic nose hair singeing synthetic grapefruit dominates the deeper, denser, supposedly top notes.

Once I got home I bought a 60ml bottle not expecting much longevity however on a night out I over sprayed this, around 10 sprays and I got a good 5-6 hours. Another very present note is lavender, which balances the aroma so as not to load it towards oriental chords. The cardamom provides a spicy kick, perfectly complemented by the softness of lavender and the depth of vetiver. I have a bottle + back up bottle at home, have a small one in my truck and a travel one in my lunch box for work.PS: I do get a bit of a coconut feel in the background, I think it's the smooth leather with the cardamom. Greetings fragrant peoples ~ before I start my review, please do take note that I’ve personally reversed the note breakdown below as my nose sends a signal to my brain that it’s detecting the reversed notes pyramid of La Nuit De L’homme EDT by YSL. These companies aren't stupid, these frangrances are multimillion dollar businesses and subjected to stringent quality testing and extremely precise material inspection and mixing standards. Top notes are Cardamom and Grapefruit; middle notes are Leather, Lavender and Clary Sage; base notes are Tonka Bean, Sandalwood, Patchouli and Vetiver. There definitely is a difference in projection and performance between the original release and the current one but the original DNA is still there.

This leans 70% masculine, but it actually beats other masculine fragrances because its sweetness is more akin to an alcoholic drink rather than the safe and cloying caramel/vanilla that some other masculine scents constantly retreat into to appear nice. Please do not spray 30 spritzes on yourself, the beauty of this is it is like a peekaboo fragrance that teases those around you.I keep waiting for the boozy, spicy notes to wear off into something sweeter but it hasn't happened.
