About this deal

Work the Liming Wax into the grain of the wood with Libéron Ultrafine Steel Wool (grade 0000) or a lint-free cotton cloth and wipe over with a clean cloth to remove excess. While both can give a whitewash effect to wood, they’re fundamentally different products with separate application processes.

IF I would have chosen to be patient and gone a fourth pass with Citristrip, I think it would look more uniform like the cabinet. I’ve created a 30-day Thought Life Challenge, one exercise a day — first working to identify negativity and weed it out, and secondly to find joy through gratitude. Real Milk Paint Company sells only natural and environmentally friendly wood wax products, and there’s a great selection to choose from, including zero VOC wax, carnauba wax and wax flakes, Myland’s wax, soapstone sealer, and traditional brown wax. Using your brush or coarse sandpaper, gently brush along the grain until the texture feels slightly rough. Always sand in the direction of the grain pattern where possible, ensuring the removal of any blemishes and glue residue prior to the application of Fiddes Supreme Liming Wax.For an even better result use the Liming Brush first to open up the grain, allowing more Liming Wax to enter; spread the Liming Wax over the whole surface and then wipe off after a few minutes. Sand the wooden substrate in stages, working with a medium sandpaper (120 grit), through to a medium / fine grade (180 –220 grit).

A: I didn’t seal either project and haven’t had any problems, but I would if I were doing a dining room table or similar I would. It is particularly effective on deeply grained timber, namely oak, where the white wax can settle into the grooves, accentuating the grain and adding a sense of depth and texture to the entire piece itself. My Ultimate Money Saving Planner is a comprehensive 36-page workbook chock-full of money-saving hacks!

Limewash is one of the oldest paints in history used as far back as 3000 BC in ancient Egyptian times. Once this is dry, remove any blemishes using a sanding pad or paper, again in the direction of the grain. The gentle finishing wax is created from a blend of beeswax, carnauba wax, and shellac wax, and it creates a lasting and lustrous shine. Preparing your workspace with a well-ventilated area, and ensuring the wood is clean and bare, is crucial too.

Use Liming Wax on any open grained timber for a dramatic and striking effect which can be emphasised by using a stain or Ebonising Lacquer first. You can add this in circular motions to work it into the grain but always finish in the direction of the grain. For a more traditional mellow finish use Liberon Black Bison Clear wax, this will give a nice smooth finish. So here’s a nice bit here because there’s a lot of lovely wood grain, that’s going to really look good.Using a soft cloth or brush, apply the whitewash generously, ensuring it penetrates into the opened grain. Apply Liming Wax to an open grain wood such as ash or oak, using a wire brush to open the wood grain for an easy to achieve “limed” look. You don’t need to bring out any paints – all you need is White Chalk Paint™ Wax, a Wax Brush and a lint-free cloth. Formulated to offer a white shade to stained or bare wood, Fiddes Supreme Liming Wax produces a traditional ‘Limed’ finish, normally associated with period oak furniture.
