For my stop on the tour, author Chris Wormell has kindly given us a glimpse into his writing process, and, most importantly, an introduction to the friendship between our heroine Clementine and her cat, Gilbert!

Clearly, Mersault’s story was written especially for me – a Bulgarian teenager throbbing with hormones and alienation. Clementine was abused and hurt all her life and she's determined to survive and escape from her prison and her awful relative. BBC Music was positive on the album and wrote: " The Magic Place, splendidly, isolates the listener, cuts them off from the world around them". There’s an edge of Victorian melodrama, vaudevillian humour, alongside whiffs of wonderful Riddell draughtsmanship, but ‘ The Magic Place‘ is entirely Chris Wormell’s own ‘forever’ masterpiece. yet she dreams of a magic place with towering mountains covered in heather, fresh streams and a cosy cottage. Tinkling with trams and punctuated by Orthodox churches, Sofia lived in the shadow of chestnut trees and late totalitarianism. When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.

This book was a really unique book, a very original concept and had some elements similar to that of Roald Dahl’s books. There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors.
