Reviews will give you a great detail of information and with any luck some of the reviews will have provided information about the quality of Mammut Women’s Brecon III GTX® Walking Boot.

Being compatible with walking crampons is beneficial as I can opt to wear these boots when enjoying gentle winter mountaineering days instead of wearing my larger, more aggressive alpine mountaineering boots. This is because with many shoe materials, the pores are still open and so better to penetrate with the waterproofing. The boot is ideal for me due its wide fitting and has a comfort feel about it that I've not experienced before in a mountain boot and Meindl Bhutans for other use. On the whole I really do like these, they’ve kept my feet dry and supported when it mattered, and I foresee using them as my main boots for a good few more years yet hopefully!I wore them on short hikes and a couple of overnighters, enough to make sure they were broken in and to test the GoreTex waterproofing, but otherwise kept them at home. I briefly reviewed them at the following link, but since then I have used them considerably on varying terrain and for long, short and middle distances and would thoroughly recommend them. In fact they probably fit in the final segment we mentioned above whereby they deliver a fantastic overall package.

For our example, we will use a “typical” outdoor shoe that has two removable parts: the laces and the insole. Come to find out, once I was in hiking country and ready to really put them to use, the soles were coming off. We will never sell your data and you'll only get messages from us and our partners whose products and services we think you'll enjoy. Constructed from robust leather, the boot can tackle anything the trail throws at it, with a lightweight design to be comfortable on foot.UK-friendly, all-round winter mountain shell with proper helmet-friendly hood, highly breathable eVent fabric with reinforced abrasion zones, more pockets than a family of bush kangaroos. The lugs are reasonably deep and well spaced to give good grip, with a sort of climbing zone at the front too for scrambling. The ankle cuff uses soft leather over foam for an upmarket feel and the top of the tongue and the area around the top three lace hooks is tough-feeling Hypalon-type reinforced material. I thought I had finally found a replacement for my beloved Raichles from years ago when I bought these from REI around 2008-2009. Gortex lined so waterproof anyway but I gave them a spray of water repellant and this adds to the protection.

The Mammut Brecon III GTX(R) is a fully waterproof half-height walker's boot with a braced insole, made from full-grained, durable smooth leather. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. They were alright, but not so good for scrambling (got some rubber detached from the boot) and they aren't completely waterproof. It’s manufactured in Romania by the way, a country which is developing a growing reputation for boot making. I wore them constantly over a weekend of scrambling, walking steep ascents and descents and I found the boots comfortable throughout. So whether you’re planning to walk along the South Downs or take in the Yorkshire Dales, the Brecon is ideal. After plenty of breaking in the boots remain stiff and uncomfortable, even after I replaced the thin insoles.

Cleaning in this way does not damage the lining of the shoe as many people believe but is the best way to make sure no build ups are happening that could, over time, wear through the shoe from the inside out. These were to be my -serious- hiking boots, for when I had the time and was in the country for multiday backpacking trips. Designed for easy backpacking or the occasional alpine trek, they are supportive and comfortable enough for all-day wear, with integrated Mammut Motion-Control which gives great flexibility and strong lateral support. They not only refused to do anything about the boots, they backdated the time they said I must have had the boots by at least another two years. Reviews are the reason you are here, and they’re unquestionably the most important factor we can use to help us choose a product when you’re not able to test the product for yourself.
