In the end, I decided that for me (and this is very much a personal take so no judgement here) minotaurs were just a little too close to well… cows.

Rourke keeps talking about needing to prepare Violet given the, uh, girth of his member, yet it felt like the foreplay was incredibly quick and then she was totally able to take him.She’d never dated a non-human before, but it was impossible to deny that this minotaur was exceedingly attractive. He took Violet out, spoiled her, held off for a while before getting busy because he wanted her to know that he wanted her, and it wasn't just a physical thing. It’s not a sex service (although there are some creeper minotaurs who try and make it so – every species has them apparently). That’s definitely the most batshit crazy part of this novel and something that not every reader will be comfortable with.

The basis of the story stayed the same, but the POV shifted (from second to third) and the backstory/relationship is more developed. Rourke is aware of boundaries and potential conflicts for Violet within her job and he seeks to build a relationship with her outside of sex before things become physical between them – this includes pausing his visits to the farm for a while so as not to confuse things. Violet is jobless, in debt, and desperate when she comes across a job opening at Morning Glory Milking Farm. That doesn’t bother me if the story is good, but it’s still nice when you don’t have to autocorrect as you read.A friend dropped a link as a “check out this obscure and slightly obscene book I found” and my depraved mind immediately was intrigued… and horrified?
