About this deal

It has become iconic for us, and so helpful for helping toddlers/pre-schoolers and those that encounter them, understand that we all have ‘big shouting days’ sometimes, and that’s ok. The message seems to be that we all have our off days, but that's OK, because tomorrow it will all be better.

Bought for a shouty 3 year old, who laughed as he realised that is exactly what he was like, so we turned a shouty day into a laughing day instead. I bought this for my 17 month old Daughter but to be honest i think its a bit old for her yet so she will probably enjoy it when she is more like 3. Once her own children had started school, Rebecca began an MA in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art and had her first picture books commissioned at the end of the course.

This book is so brilliantly observed that it should be compulsory reading for all mothers who think they might have stopped seeing the funny side of an impossibly opinionated toddler . Today I woke up and Bob was crawling around MY ROOM, licking MY JEWELLERY, so I shouted GET OUT OF MY ROOM! The trouble with Bella, the main character in My Big Shouting Day is that she is, as Jess and Thomas say, just too shouty. It's a great way to open up dialog about what to do with their big emotions and how to handle it and that's especially more important now than ever. But it isn't until the last page that Bella's mother makes any attempt to help her work through her feelings, while at the same time being implausibly patient.

My Big Shouting Day by Rebecca Patterson "Today I woke up and Bob was crawling around MY ROOM, licking MY JEWELLERY, so I shouted GET OUT OF MY ROOM! But Mum gives her a kiss and a cuddle, and reads Bella her favourite bedtime story anyway and at last Bella says 'sorry' for her big shouting day.

One day a strange parcel arrives at Bella and George's door containing a lovely human baby named Zagazoo. She was engrossed in the story and there were lots of opportunities to further discussion and relate to her own experiences. I work part time in a local primary school as a Teaching Assistant where I whisper stuff like 'I never had to know about fronted adverbials' to small children.
